I was fortunate enough to have Greg Jennings of Restless Heart invite me to see the show in Gadsden, AL at the grand opening of the Center Stage there. HUGE room, 28,000 square feet.
I gotta tell you, if you haven't listened to restless heart lately, pull out those old records/cds/whatever and remember what a real band full of guys that can play AND sing is all about. "Talent" before autotune at it's best!
I saw Willie Nelson, Mellencamp, Dylan, and Restless Heart this week and Restless Heart was the best show by a long shot to me. It was just so obvious these guys love doing what they do, and they were having a lot of fun with it, and so was everyone in the crowd.
Greg and the guys were just killer too. They made us feel like family and hung out with us until they shut the doors! I got to go on the Mellencamp bus this week, and other than Jonegee, the bass player, no one even acted like we were there. Bummer. Jonegee is a hell of a guy though.
Anyhow, I had to share this because last night was one of the best times I've ever had. If you've given up on seeing real talent in a country show, catch Restless Heart next time they are close to your town!

I saw them several times live back in the 80s and early 90s. Top notch pickers and singers. They can't get arrested in N-ville now because they're not 23 years old anymore. I saw 'em on The Opry Live last year and they sounded great....which is near impossible with the piss poor sound you get there....most acts sound like a train wreck when playing that show.

Greg is one fine guitarist and human being. He invited my wife to a show last year and we spent some time on the Tour Bus with them before the show and hung afterward. It was an outdoor fair show and depsite a small crowd their tunes were tight and Greg is just a Killer player....
He's a member here BTW....

Ah...one of my favorite bands from the 80s/90s. I saw them a few times live...AMAZING harmonies...Larry Stuart has such a smooth voice. Greg's guitar work is SO spot on...I really love the "Fast Moving Trains" and "Big Dreams in a Small Town" albums...in fact, I'm taking an 9 hour car trip tomorrow and I'm going to find those CDs now. Restless Heart and Diamond Rio...my idea of the perfect "country" bands.

I love their stuff. My backup band for a country show this summer has been doing "Wheels" and "Bluest Eyes in Texas" for band tunes.

Is Larry Stewart back full time? I have their cd's I, of course, like their original hits, but "feel my way to you" is a really good song!
Hummingbird is smokin... It sounds like you had a blast.... They were a really good band, kind of perfect Eagles if they'd been a country band kind of a band....
Glad you had a good time!

I'm a huge Restless Heart fan, and I use them as an example of the 'complete package'.... great songs, killer production, and monster playing and vocals.
Greg Jennings in particular has a knack for playing the perfect part, with the perfect tone, for each and every song.

Talked to Greg and Larry at the Opry last nite. Nicest guys
on earth. I always thought of them as the country Toto

A child prodigy!
He's probably never gonna let me borrow any more great gear again & return it broken with no questions asked.

One of my all time favorites!!! Great musicians, songwriting and performance. A truly top notch package. It's a shame they don't get more appreciation. Greg has wonderful taste and tone.

You're a braver man than I.
Most bands couldn't get within 10,000 yards of their harmonies!

I saw them in Branson last month...best show I have ever seen! Looked like he was using a Fender tweed amp and a boss me50 multifx w/ a strat.

no doubt! Great player though...
Yeah he is, and a sweetheart of a guy as all have mentioned - and he actually played all those great recorded parts himself...what a concept!
not to mention great hands.
