Title says it all.

I want to do a Tele build and they have THE body I'm looking for. If I could get $50 off, I'd jump right away.

I know, just call...... but I'm not the best haggler, and I'd like to go into the conversation knowing what to expect.

many of them already are cheaper than if you ordered those same options from scratch. I missed a killer deal on a gold top for $375.

also, keep watching the screaming deals section. They have been moving lots of showcase stuff into that section

Yes, it has happened..... $50 off might be a stretch. But they have certainly cut out shipping before. I'd say don't EXPECT more than $20-25 off, but you never know......

I've asked in the past and was told to call back in a couple of weeks if it hasn't sold.

I've also seen them reduce the price of items if it doesn't sell within a period of time. Naturally, you run the risk of losing it if you wait, but if you are close to that price drop timeframe, who knows? AFAIK you would simply have to call, as you suspect.

Personally, if it was THE body I would not quibble over $50, but it certainly does not hurt to ask.

I bought two necks at one time out of the showcase, and they tossed in the SS frets.

However, I agree that $50 would not stop me if they have the body I want the most.

Call and ask, best you can do.

Call them and ask. Nothing ventured, then nothing gained.

My guess would be if it's a particularly nice piece of wood, that they know will sell in a heartbeat for their asking price, that they won't offer too much of a discount....and why should they? If they can get more, they should - that's business...

On the other hand, if it's a marginal hunk of splinters, and it sits on the shelf for a few months with no real interest from prospective buyers, they'd probably be happy to take what they can get - again, that's business...

The economy being what it is, I would expect that sales would be a little slow for them right now, and they'd be likely to be more generous with their discounts and upgrades, so I'd be sure to at least ask for some concessions. The worst they can do is say know. If it's a particularly fine scrap of wood, you may lose out on it while you're trying to decide whether to talk them down - if you like it, then someone else may like it just as much, and take it off their rack before you do..... again, that's business.....

I'd say if you really like it, jump on it - get what makes you happy. Ask for a discount, and thank them profusely if they take your offer; if they don't accept, get it anyway, and thank them anyway, unless you think you'll live a life of remorse for your impulsive buying.... because you'll be sorry if you miss out on it if you DON'T get it, and someone else does.....
