So, I've been knocking around playin' my songs for about four years and on Saturday, received what I think is the highest compliment I've ever gotten. A couple (the guy owns one of my regular spots) was asking when I was gonna play next and said "You know, that song, "Kin of Mine", is OUR song. I thought that was pretty awesome even though it was a joke country song that I tossed off in about five minutes that doesn't really reflect my vision as an artist. It was still nice to know that I had made such an impression. Any of you other struggling songwriters have cool stories about your stuff being recognized in ways other than financial?

I've had similar things happen with my songs...usually my country songs. It's always awesome to know that someone has connected emotionally with one of your songs. You can hear many of them at my website, linked below.

I wrote a tune that was a bit of an Irish jig and a guy assumed it was a standard folk song! When I told him I wrote it myself he was surprised, he said it sounded like an old pub song they would've sung in old Ireland! I guess I got it right! lol
