Good concert tonight, Joe B had a Bogner in the line up vs. the Category 5. Van Weelden and Carol-Ann on the left and Silver Jub & Bogner Ecstasy (I believe) on the right. Had the metal grill like this:

I noticed that myself. What did you think about that red firebird he opened the show with--pretty sweet, eh?

Yeah it's an older Ecstasy I believe. When he first got it, he was using it on the high gain channel with the master up and the gain barely on.
I'm meeting him today, so I'll take a look.

Nice, knew you would get the scoop Alan! I liked the single pickup firebird that he started with, but my favorite guitar he played is the lemon burst LP with the Bigsby, that is an awesome looking guitar!

Great show.........his phrasing and playing just keeps getting better. He did a clinic at 5pm I attended with a few others from the gear page. The korina flying V he ended the show with sounded pretty damn good.....but his gold top was the thickest sounding guitar of the night.........His acoustic number still stole the show.....amazing!

Basically the year, is it stock, and how long he's had the guitar.
Thanks very much, Alan!

I was there last night right in front of the soundboard, my first time seeing him although I'm familiar with his work.
He is a tone whore for sure, his sound is awesome thick and articulate, no mud. I was most impressed with the fact that with all of the power on stage he did not blow the audience away with unnecessary volume.
I was pissed when the MC thanked Joe for the free guitar clinic before the show, if I knew about that I would have skipped dinner and gone right over from work!

If you can somehow manage to get a pic of the firebird, i'll be forever indebted to you!

On behalf of all the JB fans out there, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to do the research, take the notes, and write everything up. Well done, as is the rest of your site.

Thanks for the review WoodyTone. I've seen JB four times now and may have to go again in October to see him in Chattanooga...he's not coming to Nashville this year...bummer.
I love the new guitars he's using but I'll always be fond of his red Gigliotti...a great sounding tele style guitar.
