I traded my fender hot rod deville in today for a rickenbacker tr100, I'm pretty excited about it, I was getting quite tired of having the deville just sitting around not being used. I was quite surprised with how nice it sounded, having never played a nice solid state amp. I have a feeling this amp will be getting quite a bit of use now.
Anybody know anything about these amps? I've been trying to find out about them but I can't really seem to find any info.
Thanks!
I'll get pics up soon in case anyone cares to take a gander.

anyone have any info on these? or any links to places that do?
How besides "nice" does it sound exactly ?
How would you describe it in comparsion to other amp of note you've owned/played.

thanks a bunch.
as for the sound, the amp if a very full sounding amp, very bassy, but not in a bad way at all. In spite of all the bass the amp has on tap it's got a great deal of clarity with the treble and presence knobs. The distortion isn't the greatest thing in the world but I think it sounds really cool. Im not totally sure how to describe the tone of the amp though. I'll get some clips recorded.

Pyle drivers were big for car stereos in the 80's , I don't think they were made for guitar amps, not sure though.

I'll try to make a youtube video of it in the next few days.
I just bought this amp today from the original poster of this thread.
Yeah I know they're not original speakers, and grill cloth isn't original either, but it's not a shabby sounding amp so far. Need to get some over drive pedal to put in front of it of course, cause the distortion isn't all that cool.

I got a pair of Pyle Drivers in a Bandmaster cab From what I found they made a shitload of speakers with the same name. With most of them being for car woofers. The ones I have look like guitar speakers but dammed if I know.
I'm saving them for the day when some one big uses them then I'll cash in.:rotflmao
(oh Derick Trucks did use 10s but mine are 12s and I had to do some googling to find out who he was. He ain't bad)

o.O I can't believe you didn't know who Derek Trucks is lol.
If I ever have money, I'm gonna replace the speakers with webers probably.
I heard Bob Rissi made these. ""Hired by Leo Fender in 1960, Named Director Rickenbacker Amps 1967, Formed Risson Amps 1970 to 1984, Now Building & restoring Vintage tube amps.""
Not entirely sure how accurate this info is.. I also heard he was trying to make these sound somewhat like a Solid State Fender twin reverb? Shrugs. It's got a little fender quality, but I think it sounds closer to my 1973 Fender Pro Reverb that I had and wish I never sold lol.

These old Ricky amps are sleepers. I picked up a model R50 from Craig's List for $150. I bought it because it looked cool and I was curious - and it was in full working order. It sounds fantastic. it takes pedals well, it's pretty light, and it's got a big sound. The Emi speakers are original and seem perfectly suited to the amp. The best thing about it is the "sustain" control, which is a VERY effective midrange control that seems perfectly calibrated.
Can you tell I like it?
Here's a pic. I replaced the homely knobs with some Rickenbacker-looking ones. And I replaced the grill with some Fender cloth I had on hand.
