I ordered one after reading about how much people like them and MAN! I put it in my epi les paul and that pickup blew me away. The stock epi pickups were giving me a bunch of feedback whenever I put a substantial amount of distortion on the signal, but the mean 90 took care of that. I think I'm going to put the mean 90 in the bridge of my sheraton II and get a dream 90, from what I've read its got a little less bass, to put in the neck of the sheraton.
I guess I just wanted to share my incredible experience with everyone!

The mean 90 are almost universally loved by those who try them.
The Dream 90 not so much. The dream 90 is a regular strat type single coil in a bucker housing. If yo ulike the Mean so much I would recommend two. They are great as neck pickups.

I've got the Mean 90 in the bridge position of my SG. it matches will with the neck humbucker, and it sounds like my JB did when being split, only fatter. I love it! I need to get better pots though, the Alpha pots sold by GHS are far from being as great as they tout them.

This is a great PUP - not for the price: period.

I'm thinking that I probably will just get another mean 90 for the neck. Also I'm kind of wanting to put the mean 90 in my SG Standard, at least to see how it sounds, but I'm not sure how I feel about putting a sub $40 pickup in a $1000+ guitar. haha

I put the Mean 90 in the bridge of my 89 LP STD...haha

This is precisely why, in my first post, I wrote:

is there a hint of muddiness dostorted, not like mad heavy distortion but the amount suitable for the general punk sound. I know alot of early punk sounds were recorded using P90s just wanted to know if these do it justice

The ones in my SG stay clear even at max distortion (admittedly, the "max" for me is an AC15 with the Top Boost channel on 10, and a Bad monkey just pushing it a bit more)

I've got a pair that I'm going to be putting in my Epi SG this week. Can't wait to hear how they sound!

Quick example, I got really excited when I bought my AC15C1, so I turned it up to 10 to see how the P-90 liked it.
In retrospect, learning the song FIRST would've been a good choice!

I love the MEAN 90s. I have a pair in my SG, one in the neck of my Heritage Prospect, and after hearing my guitars, my buddy put a pair in his Les Paul. Awesome pickups, awesome price period!

Another old thread resurrected. For what it's worth, got a set in my Ibanez AS73...nice!
Don't usually take 3 guitars to a gig. But tonight I did. Busted a string on the Tele, Strat started to have a jack issue ( I thought, turned out to be a cord). Switched to the Agile 2000 w/ GFS Classic IIs. This cheap-assed guitar with cheap-ass upgraded pickups amazed me again.

The good thing is that it's a cheap stigma if it turns out that you don't like it!
