body esquire, based on the original 1950 model. I was told that there were no more than a few hundred made back then and no more than a handful still in existence. This one was built in 1997 and the wood is from an old Baptist church in GA. that was built over 150 years ago, maybe more. It was just sitting around in some small, out of the way town, and the wood was still in fine shape. They somehow got wind of this church and the old pine wood, bought it up for a song and made 100 bodies for these guitars. So in fact, youre really getting very old, broken in wood that resonates like you wouldnt believe. The checking on this is also very cool. It's super light to. The tone is to die for!!! They got this one right.
The neck is super beefy, and the guts are EXACTLY like the original. Fender custom shop got one of the originals and duplicated it perfectly. This one was one of Greg V's old guitars. He had two of them and sold me one. I'm glad he did. Thanks Greg! You're the best, and one of the best players you will find anywhere. Just my story. :)

scottyy,
You have to host them elsewhere. I use www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) it's free and simple to use.
When you get set up please post here, too. http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=370889&highlight=pinewood
It's a thread devoted to pine guitars. There are a lot of cool pieces and great people in the thread sharing pics and build info.

I have one based on the original Snake Head Prototype from 1949
It is an exact replica using Nos parts and OS details
It is a 50th Anniversary guitar and amp package that was done by the custom shop in 1996 #4 out of fifty made

Also of interest between this Guitar and a "Modern" Telecaster" are
the poles on the pick up are all flat.
The dots on the fret and side markers are painted on
There are no metal bushings on the NOS Tuners
There is no adjustable truss rod
The Bridge Plate is a different size and the pick up is at a different angle
The intonation screws have no springs
The Finish is Nitro Cellulose Lacquer and is applied in a very thin coat. The result is shrinkage which shows the wood grain.
The Body wood is two pieces of Pine laminated top and back
The neck plate is a different size
The control plate, knobs, bridge cover and input jack cup are all custom made to the original prototype specifications

At photobucket, click on the picture. That will enlarge it. At the bottom left click on the space that says img. It will say copied in yellow. Then come here start like you would to right something and right click. It will say copy, paste etc. Left click on paste and it will paste the code and picture.

I've been having to left click to copy with photobucket lately, if that helps. You used to just right click and it said 'copied'. Now it seems you have to left click and select copy.

BIG thanks go to dan and dave for helping me out in here. much appreciated. Playing this guitar, it feels like youre going back in time. Incredible tone. this is the non truss model.
The wood is from a very old pine wood church outside of Savannah, GA. From what i read, the church was just slowly rotting away and somehow FENDER got wind of this old pine wood. They ended up buying the wood that they could salvage for a song>CHEAP!. They made 50 of these bodies. The checking is natural from the age of the wood. Approximate date of the church>1845-1855. Now of course this church has been abandoned for many many decades, but it was just left there and no one thought much of it. Then Fender came along and now you see it once again, resonating all notes to it's absolute fullest. I swear it seems like the vibrant tone seeps through the wood, and explodes through the amp.

Ive owned 2 of them. Fender made 2 runs of them. The 1st run was 100 of them for NAMM,and were identical to the original ones( thinner bodies, and correct wiring)They are numbered 0001 to 0100. The next batch was for 100 more for public sale. Some had truss rods other did not. These have a different serial number. If your is 0001 to 0100 it from the 1st run.

Scotty when reading this I would have never believed the guitar to be black, that is the last color to come to mind. I was certain in was going to be trans white.

That's a really cool guitar Scotty. Pine makes great sounding guitar body. We use it on our laminated Basses to cut the weight down and found out it sounded great.

I gotta say it is very different then any other Pine Tele I've played .
It tok a while for me to get used to the sound.
it is very bright and resonant, full of life and sustain.
The neck is very much like the modern Nocaster's
It was an unplayed 13 year old guitar when I got it so I restrung it with some pure nickel strings like the were once made. 10/42's from Snake Oil strings
I also adjusted the saddles and nut because it had a little sitar on the second string first fret. The action is just where i like it for finger picking and two finger struming.
Not having the neck pick up with only tone and volume to work with makes you use touch and pick attack even more then a modern Tele or 2 pup Esquire.
If I could compare the tone with my style of playing I would say it reminds me most of Robert Quine and the Voidoids..
Love Comes in Spurts or Blank Generation
Not smooth like Jim Campilongo or harmonic like Roy Buchanan
Much more glass like because of the cold rolled steel saddles and flat pole pup
Like I said I'm working at putting together some clips
