What am i looking for here?

I'm considering a Vintage Rat Reissue or a Jordan Bosstone.

CoT 50

wat :huh - the CoT50 is tight and edgy.

Try a Red Llama or some variant like the Tonefactor Mule, etc.

Doesn't sound "tight" to me, but that's the problem with these adjectives. And how does "edgy" differ from "messy" and "grainy"?

Sunface NKT275 with the guitar vol dialed back just a bit. You'd be surprised.

Well to me, 'messy' refers to the looseness of the pick attack and 'grainy' describes the decay characteristics of the gain - the CoT50 is neither of those things IMO.

Screwdriver I had fit that description.

Just get a RAT man, can't go wrong with one of these, plus its versatile enough for other uses (good booster, quite transparen OD on low settings, nice distortion that can be messy playing with both the gain and filter knobs, and fuzz-like tones on extreme gain settings).

already two way huge pedals. I'm proud.

Tally one up for the red llama. It's based on a fuzz, but Mr Huge turned it into and overdrive-y pedal. Not too messy, but quite gainy

EQD Crimson Drive. Haven't had the chance to play one myself, but that one pretty much fits your describtion. High on my 'to purchase' list as well since I like my ODs to be gritty and grainy as well.

Another one that comes to mind is the Colorsound Overdriver and when used on low gain settings, Fuzzhugger's Algal Bloom. Listen to Bobby D's demo on YouTube when he goes more for the low gain, overdriven tones on the AB.

The correct answer is always Big Muff.

I think the correct terminology for a messy, grainy, OD is a fuzz!

On second thoughts, get a RAT, or a Screwdriver!

Colorsound Overdriver clone. I have the Throbak and like it.
