So I decided to do a cover of The Band's, "It Makes No Difference." I am trying to learn Logic, so I thought doing a song I knew made more sense then attempting original material (for now).

For some track info:
All vocals, keys, guitars are me. The drums are Drumcore 3.
- I used a Shure KSM27 for the vocals and acoustic.
- The electric guitars are either a strat or tele. I used my A0-35 variant I built into a Hotplate set to load. I then took the line out and used GTR Solo for cab sims (Thanks Ed DeGenero and splatt for writing about this method on the board). I used a BOSS CS-3 (modded), a SD-2 (modded) and Vox Time Machine for delay.
- The bass is using POD Farm.
- The keys are Logic Fender Rhodes-type plugin.
Let me know what you think! All comments are welcome.

Really enjoyed that! Loved the the singing, harmonies, the respect for Danko and Robertson shows. I was adding a 3rd high harmony singing along. Cold critic here, and I thought it was great. Do you know what thread to look for where Ed DeGenero and Splatt discuss the process? Thanks!

I gotta find the thread that splatt wrote about the same method, but here is the recent Ed Degenero thread.

Excellent rendition of this great Band song! The instrumentation is tight, well played and recorded. The guitar work is emotionally expressive..
..I really appreciate the vocal work. The lyrics are so desperate and lonely. So many singers could easily "over-emote" to where it sounds like the singer (the narrator) is wallowing in self-pity.
What I liked about Rick Danko's singing is that although it sounded very vulnerable and fragile, it also sounded strong like he would eventually "overcome" the sad story in the lyrics (if that makes any sense).
I think your vocal does the same..I hear it sing the desperation, but know the singer will overcome.

I liked the song very much and the vocals besides Danko had a Richie Furay vibe as well.
The only criticism I have is that the rhythm guitar seemed rushed beginning just before, or around, the 3:30 mark. Other than that.....very cool.

Sounds pretty good to me
But..
As a bass player, I would encourage you to go back and listen to what Danko played. There were a lot of walk-ups and fills that were left out. He didn't just play the roots - the bass line really helps push the song and give it some bounce. Sound-wise, I think the bass on the original had less sustain and bottom. I'll bet he used a pick and played with flats. Think less pillowy and more muted attack.
