Just scored a 1941 or 1951 (from spkr code on the Rola) single 12 Sherwood combo amp that looks retro-insane. In great condition with all original tubes, which are 2 6L6G (G for glass) large coke-bottle power tubes, another big glass tube which must run the tremelo, a glass rectifier tube and to old black metal preamp tubes. Sounds good at very low volume (with no 60 cycle capacator hum) but craps out in an ugly way when turned past 1/4 volume, plus the bass control seems backwards and the trem may not work (need to find the right footswitch to know).
Anybody have one of these?

Sherwood guitars were mostly made by Kay, but I don't recall Kay ever making any 6L6-powered amps - certainly not in the '50s. Then again, if it has switchable tremolo it's probably from 1961. Assuming it's a 1/4" switch jack, just about any standard footswitch should work. It could be a Valco design, but we'll need some pics to really know.
