Funny take on the box set. I've always enjoyed his books. I'm also looking forward to his upcoming book "Eating The Dinosaur".
Fargo Rock City is a classic!

Funny stuff.

"Spearheaded by the increasingly mustachioed Fake Paul, the four Beatles donned comedic Technicolor dreamcoats, consumed 700 sheets of mediocre acid on the roof of the studio, and proceeded to make Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, a groundbreaking album no one actually likes. A concept album about finding a halfway decent song for Ringo."

God damn, he just gets funnier and funnier. He is hands-down my favorite author and has been for years and years... long before most people had any idea who he was. I've got a signed copy of Killing Yourself To Live, and I met the guy and had a brief chat with him the day I got it. He's somehow funnier in person, and he was a pretty cool dude too. He remembered my name for a good hour and a half, which was pretty fascinating.

My favorite line:
"That said, the audio quality is especially heavy and detailed; one suspects most of the arduous lifting on Abbey Road fell on the shoulders of unheralded Jeff Beck producer George Martin."

"There are a bunch of unexpected covers on this album [Beatles for Sale], so it’s kind of like Van Halen’s Diver Down."

You were wondering about the basis for the lawsuit...

You were wondering about the basis for the lawsuit...

I, er, cannot comment on that... but he also remembered my friend Meghan's name for the same hour or so. Nobody's sued her yet... of course with a name like Meghan Anderson, nobody probably ever will. Come to think of it, she and I have a mutual friend by the same name, same spelling.

It was neat though. He was doing a reading/book signing thing at the Edina Barnes & Noble, so we went to it. Got to the store and had no idea if it was even going on because there weren't a lot of people in sight... there was however one goofy looking blond guy with glasses aimlessly wandering around the self-help section, so we ran over to say hi. We talked for five or ten minutes about stuff and then he was like, "Well, I suppose they probably want me to get started soon, huh?" They? Oh yeah, turns out there were a couple hundred people crammed into the downstairs part of the store, and nobody even realized the guy they all came to see was just wandering around. So we had those few minutes to chat, listened to the reading/Q&A section, and then got in line to get our books signed. And when we got to the front, he still knew both of our names.

That bears repeating.
