Meh. The gear at the bottom of the page in his sig is much more interesting.
Techno/Superstrats never moved me. Too sterile looking, IMO.

So much for sanity around celebrity owned instruments...pffft.

So he wrote songs and played gigs, so it makes his guitar much more valuable than anyone else's?

I'd pay that if it were the 'Beat It' guitar...it would be worth it too

What's a 63 Strat neck go for these days? Part it out?

Yeah, but that neck has been drilled into and painted.

Yeah, but what about "Africa" - doesn't that count?

Lol, epic cheesy 80'sness, I guess I'll buy that strat so I can live the 80's.

I have bought some KILLER stuff from that guy. I bought an amazing R8 from landau through him. A lot of guys around town use him to sell stuff on ebay. He is a very cool guy

To someone... probably so. If there's one person willing to pay it, that's *exactly* how much it's worth.

I am a big Luke fan but there doesn't seem to be any major Luke memorablia there. I do like the fender XII though.

I'd say the auction means he wants money--that's not meant as a criticism. If he needed money he'd have a much lower opening bid.

FYI, the Steve Lukather guitar he's selling is a one-of-a-kind prototype built for him by the folks behind the Ibanez brand. It is more similar to a set-neck Ibanez Artist than to a strat. Unfortunately, Ibanez decided against producing that guitar and instead stuck Steve's name on one of their Strat-evolved guitars. The opinion over at the Ibanez Collectors forum is that this one-of-a-kind guitar is a very desirable collectors item (if you are an Ibanez collector) but that the price the seller is asking is too high for this market. It's worth well more than the $2K to $4K suggested earlier, though, even now. If this had a $6K BIN on it, it would be gone by now.
