I've been designated by my band to look into getting us a lighting rig...I did some lighting stuff in highschool, but need a refresher. Does anyone know a good resource for "lighting for dummies" type info, such as what equipment is needed, wattages required, etc? We're not looking to start with anything too complicated....likely just a truss with some par cans and maybe a laser or two...
Thanks!

Avoid heat makers... I mean old school cans. LED lights are where it's at.

Yeah, I just found this...http://www.kam.co.uk/index.php?action=product&product_id=193, and it looks pretty great. Compact, all inclusive, foot controlled, and LED....

Go over to H-C and cruise the Lighting Forum. Lots of guys just like you, and some very helpful folks. You'll avoid making costly mistakes.
I agree, LEDs are the way to go.

So does the Pro Sound Web. And I'm more inclined to follow their advice than someone on HC. ;)

Except they'll tell him unless he gets a 220 distro and 2-3 full trusses, it's not worth doing. <g>

We switched from cans to LED's about 2-3 years ago. There is no heat and they basically draw no current so you don't have to go looking for more circuits to run the old type cans. LED's are it.
