I am conviced that Yamaha has perfected the great sounding great playing inexpensive acoustic guitar. This fact has now been absolutely proven by my purchase of the FS720s OM size, short scale model. I was looking for a nice less expensive guitar for outside, less than ideal weather conditions, and one that I could leave on a stand all of the time. I tried the Taylor BB and while I liked it a lot could not bond with it long term.

After a bit of research and checking out everything I could get my hands on for under 500 bucks I found a small local shop that stocked the FS720s, which has a unique blend of features.

What a lovely guitar to look at and play. I bough the tobacco sunburst model which is really nicely done and looks great with the natural sides and back.

Tone leans more toward the bright side but is well balanced and LOUD!! it is as deep as a dred so i am sure that helps. I am just giddy over this 250 dollar jem of an instrument. I play it more than my 1400 Larrivee right now.

I used to think the low end Yamahas were decent, but I never played one that intonnated well. Maybe they're better these days.

I hear you, though this intonates just about perfect. They are comming through with compensated saddles now which obviously helps.

I play a 30ish year old Yamaha acoustic all the time. For a few years, it was my only guitar. I've had it for 20 years and played it literally every day for a good ten. Wonderful instrument! Sorely in need of a fret job now, but it's still my primary live acoustic.

I should mention that for recording purposes, this guitar has beaten out a handmade acoustic that's worth 20 times as much, several times.
