'Got the Reaper in the Crate. It's smoother than the Veteran 30, but lacks the bright top end that I'm used to. I suspect it would get a little cruchier on the top end with some speaker breakup. Wouldn't it?
How do you like it?

Excellent clip ... to me, the lead sounds much better than the rhythm, but still good.
You'll have to try dialing the amp in better for more highs and crunch ... IMHO, I don't think the speaker will change a ton with more break-in or power.

That's about it really. Presence is a switch, so it's all or nothing. The Treble was on 7.
I wonder how worn my power tubes are though, because I bought the amp used. Maybe I'll get a set this weekend, and see.

Good golly miss Molly it's an ET65 with very little bass.
That Greenback grit. I'll have to change that to Reaper grit soon.
I hear a little honk in there like a Jensen also.

I think it's pretty balanced for what I can get out of it.

I'm thinking the upper mid thing will spread out a bit with some breaking in.

I had the amp on my kitchen table for the clip. But when you set the amp on the floor near the wall, you get a real deep bass. Almost like a 4x12.

It is an interesting clip to hear that EQ with that sound. Real good.
WGS puts out good stuff imo. "Most" of their takes on Celestion's have been better, again in my opinion. I am glad to have both around though. Variety is the spice of life.
(Leaving an opening for Bob. :) )

I don't know man... I wish I could get the sparkle of the Jenson C12K, but broaden out the responce of the Reapers midrange. The Jensen has good mids, but the mesh voice coil delivers a dominating presence.
Maybe it's the amp...

I think the lead sounds fine ... but was responding to the OP's thoughts. I wasn't sure if he fixed it in he mix.

I think I need to hammer the Reaper with some ghetto bass. I might pull it out, and pummel it with my stereo for a bit this weekend.
