I've run into a serious problem with trying to hook up my Koch Powertone to the G-System. I've used the 4-cable method, of course. I've hooked it up like this:
Guitar -> Input G-System
Insert Send -> Input Amp
Insert Return -> BBE Sonic Maximizer 482i [INPUT]
BBE Sonic Maximizer 482i [OUTPUT] -> Send FX Loop
Output G-System -> Return FX loop

I'm getting signal, though a very lifeless sound. I've tried rotating the EQ and volume on my clean channel, but I get nothing. I can only adjust the master volume. This makes me believe that the problem is located at the pre-amp. I've tried switching channels and turning the Ultra Gain Channel's gain all the way up. The gain is there, BURIED in the background, underneath the clean sound.

I've tried switching cables, of course. To no avail.
What am I missing here? Have I overlooked something? Isn't this amp compatible with the G-System? This can't be, right? Every official t.c. electronic demo I've seen of the G-System features a Koch amp! I highly doubt that it wouldn't work ..

Please help me out if you've got some suggestions or answers.
Thanks!

Michel.

Try using the boost setting on ALL!!! presets.. when the boost is inactive it actually reduces the volume, compared to unity. This might get you your sound back!

EDIT:
Just noticed you have it hooked up wrong... The output of the G-system should go to the input if your amp! If you want I'll pm you my phone #, I'm in the country for a few weeks.

try this...

gtr--> g sys in--> g sys insert out---> amp in---> amp loop fx send---> bbe in--> bbe out---> g sys insert in---> g sys out ---> amp loop fx return

hope it help...

Hook it up this way:

Guitar -> Input instrument
Insert Send -> FX loop insert(amp)
Insert Return -> FX loop return(amp)
Output (use the L for mono) -> Input koch

If you have the BBE "always on", you can put it between the Insert Send and the FX loop return on your amp.

Well, it can't be the boost. I don't have a boost engaged. Brought it back to 0dB and locked it, like the Laird manual said.
And yeah? How weird! I hooked it up exactly like the manual said! Let's try the other ways!

When the boost is disengaged it reduces your volume..

Check out the TC forums, they've loads of info on the G-system!

Huh? But you can adjust that, right? When you bring the boost back to 0dB you bring back the entire volume of the G-System? That's why Laird gives the advice to bring the boost back to 0dB and lock it. You can use an outward boost in one of the loops to truly boost.

Hook it up this way:

Guitar -> Input instrument
Insert Send -> FX loop insert(amp)
Insert Return -> FX loop return(amp)
Output (use the L for mono) -> Input koch

If you have the BBE "always on", you can put it between the Insert Send and the FX loop return on your amp.
You mean, between the Insert Send and the FX loop Send? Since that is what you're saying here:
"Insert Send -> FX loop insert(amp)"

Well, this option is even worse. I get a very soft sound, can't use any of the controls of the amp. I put the Sonic Maximizer in between the Insert send and the FX loop Send - I'm seeing it getting the signal.

Have you tried the way you advised me? I highly doubt you can use this.

This one didn't work as well. Gets me the same problem as before. I tried switching the Insert Out and In but that didn't work as well ..

........ this is weird.
I'm gonna be extremely pissed if the Powertone doesn't work with the G-System.

Doesn't the Sonic Maximizer need to be last in the chain?

Yeah! :)
Well, I asked Laird on the t.c. forum for some advice and we had it all figured out. It's up and running now.
