Anyone airline savvy?

Long story short; my niece recently moved her family (with 16 month old baby) from OR to Albuquerque and my sister is having a fit. I told Sis to get a plane ticket and fly down and visit.
Can someone recommend an affordable round trip airfare from PDX to ABQ?

I'm a southwest fan, but they recently changed some of
thier pricing in the northeast... Tried hotwire and was
pretty happy with the pricing... not non stop but decent
flights with short connecting stops.

i live in new mexico myself and southwest is usually the cheapest airline anywhere from here. however, as mentioned above orbitz usually provides the best deals from here especially.

However...Southwest will not show up on Orbitz or other travel sites. You must go directly to their website if you want to search for or book travel on them.

Being flexible on travel dates and times always helps.

Also check Southwest's website as mentioned. Air Tran and JetBlue also sometimes have some killer deals that don't show up on search websites.

My personal technique is to check the search sites for comparison and to narrow the search, then go to the individual airlines' websites, as...like you say...you often find a better price there.
