I built a Two Stroke amp this week. The one in Dave Hunters book on guitar amps. It is the one being sold by Victoria amps as well. I have Sixtuplet checked the wiring and cant find where I went wrong. It comes on and every tube lights up. I can hear a very faint hissing sound coming from my speraker, but I cant get any input sound to come out of it.:dunno
I think the problem is with the input stage, but I'm only guessing.
Any suggestions.

Hmmmm, It might be miswired input jacks.
With your voltmeter, probe V1-pin2. If you hear a "pop", the input signal isn't getting to V1.

Give this a try and report back.

One other item you can check that threw me when I built mine.... V1 pin 2 looks like splits and goes both to ground as well as the 68k resistor to your input jack. This should be a shielded wire and the shielding goes to ground only.

I missed that part when I read the instructions. When I lifted that ground leg from pin 2 I had sound.

I have been checking voltage readings. The rectifier is getting something like 260v @ the 6 pin. I cant even get a reading of any type of power for grid pin 4 on the output tubes. It seems like no power is even going through the circut. The only place I find power is at the rectifier and the 6v lighting the tubes and pilot. Position 8 on the rectifier doesn't get a reading at all.

Check the PT.

68-custom_shop,
Pull all of the tubes except the rectifier. Fire up the amp and measure DC volts @ pin 8 of the rectifier. If you have AC voltage from the PT applied @ pins 4--6 of the rectifier and the filament is lit, you should see a DC output @ pin 8. The voltage should be fairly high (~400v)with no other tubes installed.

Reads nothing. I think I might have gotten a skunky OT? I'm gonna take it to a dude who knows a heck of a lot more than me.

So, to recap. The rectifier tube has AC voltage on pins 4 and 6 and no DC voltage on pin 8?

Sounds like a bad rectifier tube.

Thats what I thought. I found the problem,,,,and yes it was freakin stupid. I didnt connect all of the ground termials together on the strip. Once that was done,,,Let there ROCK!!! Skipm45,and all others, Thank you sooo much for your thought and for trying to help me out. I really appreciate it.
