Just a brief note of appreciation to Tomo for adding (via Tone Merchants) to my bag of tricks.

I have known the nine chord to nine/thirteen chord funk move for years (back to Blow By Blow) and had semi retired it. I considered it the 'D to Dsus4' move of funk; tired and it'd been done to death

I sat down and learned the A section to 'Conf. Cat' and pulled the old girl out of retirement. All she needed was a more interesting resolution, and a harmonized line to go with it.

Thanks Tomo!

Thank you so much for your kind words.

Yes, those 5th string rooted 9th and 13th with your pinky... over played.. but I added a bit more spice! Just like food.. good stuff is good... but you want to add your favorite spice... Soy sauce, Curry, whatever... My spices come from other instrument such as... Organ.. Horn section..

Triads, voice leading... you make that old thing into new thing!

Checked out the Conf. Cat lesson link; I love that Bb figure. I worked on both the "Cat" from Tone Merchants, and then worked in the lesson.
The Bb part sounds darn good as a "I" part too.
What a pleasure to play good chord phrases; how is it possible I know so few?

Hi Bob,

Actually I wrote this song for my old cat! B section is very tricky.. but if you the chart... it's fun work out for your alternate picking. I use this song for my blues/funk lab. Homework tune!

Thanks for your kind words. Bb7... I made it up that for DVD. Similar to "Just Funky" riffs. Hideaway chord is there??? I use these for I7 vamp too.

For F7...Bb, Ab triads sounds great for F7.. Gospel triads... (Listen to "I Wish"). I love blues feel and jazz essence. Thanks again.

I love triads! More chords???
