Any ideas how Mike Mogis gets that amazing fuzzy rumble at the beginning of his solo?

I dig that fuzz sound he has. And that Fano isn't too shabby, either.

My guess is that he's just pressing down on the trem to slacken the strings.... if that's the sound you are referring to?

I guess. Don't know. It's the first noise that comes out of his guitar right when the solo kicks in. It seriously sounds like an engine rumbling and it's awesome.

Sounds like he's hitting the sixth string and pushing down on the trem...

Yeah, that engine sound it's with the fuzz, but pressing the trem down so the strings go really slack.

Tone in great on the solo. Bright eyes music is so depressing though :( Cool that is is from Omaha. A guy I knew helped record some of there stuff. I haven't seen him for along time though. Actually, since he lived in Lincoln. Ian are you out there? :)
