Matchless HC30 vs /13 RSA 31

Hi all. I currently own a /13 RSA31 and am thinking about ditching it for a Matchless HC30. I like the way the /13 sounds but I have always wanted a Matchless. I think the /13 might have a bigger bottom end where as the Matchless would be less with emphasis on the mids and highs. Has anyone compared these two? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

It's a /13-RSA23 and HC30 comparison. Both sound great.

I have a RSA31 and I used to own a SC30. Obviously both are great sounding amps, but it's hard to say which you would prefer as it's pretty subjective. My take on it is if you're wanting an AC30 type of sound then the 31 beats out the Matchless. I actually bought the Matchless to satisfy an AC30 desire and while I really loved the sound of it it didn't really do it for me in that regard. Great sound though so you may prefer it. really only one way to find out.... :D

Tough choice between two excellent amps.

What cab and speakers are you running the /13 through?

Perhaps one cab with Blues and a second with Scumback M75 HP's
would be a better investment.

Hard for me to tell from here what might be causing your problem.

I usually don't use pedals, just different guitars, attack and amp settings.

I am actually in the process of deciding between the RSA31 and a Matchless HC30 or Avalon (based on channel 1 of HC30). I've listened to all the clips available of those amps and from what I've heard my assessment is that with the eqs dialed in close to noon on those amps the Matchless have more scooped mids and sound a bit more 3D clean than the RSA31. When overdriven the Matchless have a percussive response and clang that no other amp does, the RSA I hear as being closer to classic Vox.

TGP member Passenger84 made a video comparison between an RSA23, RSA31 and Spitfire (close to a HC30) which is on youtube. There are videos of the Avalon on youtube as well but the amps is eq a bit darker than most like. The Matchless sight also has clips of that.
