What do you wear if you don't wear jeans? Khaki's 24/7? Nylon track pants? Shorts year 'round? Sweatpants? (you from NJ?)
I'm lost. You blew my mind a little bit... I never realized how important pants were to me until now!

No, you are from bizarro-land. I wear jeans pretty much exclusively. Black jeans for work, casual black jeans for play. Denim shorts in summer. I don't have denim underwear, but it bears thinking about.
I don't wear Levi's though, mostly Billabong stuff.
The best thing about denim, is that you can wear it every day for a week, and it looks as good on Friday as it did on Monday. If they needs to be washed, I just chuck em on the floor for a few days, then it's good to go again.
Denim is possibly the GREATEST American invention of all.
If I find a pair of jeans I really like, I buy 2 pair.

I'm not really a jeans wearer.
i just bought a pair a couple of months ago after not having any for about two years and I've only worn them twice...when I went to Vermont for the weekend.
What do you wear if you don't wear jeans? Khaki's 24/7? Yeah pretty much.
I've got beige, tan, olive, grey, blue and black...two pairs of each color. They're fine for work or casual dress on the weekend. No ironing just wash and wear and they're pretty much acceptable wherever you go.
Around the house it's usually boxers or PJs.
I don't wear sneakers either. I've got one pair that I've worn three times in the year and a half that I've owned them.

I love my jeans...but I've had them for a long time so they're pretty worn in. Believe it or not, some of my favorite pants to wear are my old camos from when I was in the Air Force...if only I could find some that weren't camo...

I hate jeans, always have since I was a little kid. I've always been a huge fan of cargo pants. Khakis for work or scrubs. Cargos or shorts at home. This pretty much sums me up. I've just never found a pair of jeans that fit me right and when I do they make my skin break out for some reason. I pretty much wear shorts all the time unless I have to go to work or its less than 40 degress outside. Then I switch to dockers, cargo pants, sweats, anything but jeans.
I'm sort of an anomaly. I live on a small horse ranch in rural Texas, drive a pickup, but don't wear jeans and don't own any boots or cowboy hats. When I take my daughter to horse shows every weekend, I'm the only dude in Tshirt, shorts and sandals. Sometimes when we show up in the winter and I have my shorts on, some of the competitors will say, "See I told you he was going to wear his shorts" :) Yeah I get weird looks, but its just not my thing and I can't swallow changing my appearance just to suit my environment when its something I'm not.

As I get older it gets harder to find jeans I like. I wear a suit to work so I don't get to wear jeans that much. I like the lighter /thinner demin on a lot of the designer brands. I put on a pair of regular levis and they were like cardboard.

Better? Denim is the best material for pants. It doesn't need to be washed or ironed, it lasts forever, it forms to ones body, it looks better with age, it goes with almost anything.

Conceptually, I don't have a problem with denim used as a shorts material, but it's rarely ever executed well. Most of the time it's just a jeans design & cut made shorter (literally in the case of cut offs). They don't hang well.

Maybe in your world, but I favour surf-wear brands, esp Billabong, and they do denim shorts very well.
Of course, not having a beer-gut is a help in the "hang" department.

I wear whatever doesn't have any stains or dog hair on it that day. Don't really put too much thought into it. Sometimes jeans, sometimes wool, sometimes cotton. No jeans at work though. Put more thought into shirts. The real change for me was not wearing sneakers too much any longer. Bought some killer light and comfy shoes and now I look good in my cool shirt and sporty shoes, no matter what pants I wear.

I wear both jeans and khakis, but presently I wear jeans most of the time. I'd wear khakis and slacks more often, if I could find more that are actually comfortable. Most pairs just feel really constricting and weird when they rub against my skin, not sure how to describe it. Broken-in denim just feels right, like few other fabrics can do. As for shirts otoh, I stopped wearing t-shirts years ago. Everything I wear is some combination of button-up/collar/no-collar for me.
Levi's makes some very good jeans.... I like others also.. but I'm no snob...:beer and over 100 bucks for a pair of jeans is just crazy.. as any pair of Levi's might take a bit longer to break in.. but will last forever...

Well, I´m 18, and this year I´ve discovered men´s shoes and real pants. Chicks seem to dig it!
I still wear jeans though...but I´m digging chocolate or black washed denim more than the old, ripped, "You can tell I haven´t washed these suckers in a month" variety I used to wear mainly. I´ll still wear em to ocassions when it seems somewhat appropiate. Like a Bring Me The Horizon concert, if I´d ever go to see them live.

Wow...this has taken off. I am 23, Married a year ago and in a band. I play at a church in SF that the Chronicle called, "the church of the pretty people". Its all designer jeans and hippster. SF hippsters to be exact. My whole life I tried to be cool and wear what was in. My mom was on my case as a kid, my wife constantly tells me I have no style, even friends and just people I know give me their opinion on my garb like I asked for it. It just started pissing me off. So one day I said F it. I can't keep up. I looked at my grandfather and thought....hmmm....he's got an interesting style. I would definately be the only guy under 50 wearing that stuff...so I did it.
I went to the Salvation army/goodwill and bought some pants. I got some wool pants that are very classy and comfy. Then I found some pin striped slacks and thought these are cool. I found some brown Khakis and some weird blue ones. I went on ebay and ordered some Members Only Jacktes (Not kidding, I always thought the shoulder/neck straps were sort of militant looking and that appealed to me). I know one thing...People shut up. My wife, my mom, all my friends they just look me up and down and don't say anything.

I wear just about nothing but jeans, even in the summer. I've never been big on shorts, maybe they do keep you cooler but I just don't like wearing them. I do have a few pairs of OD green cargos and a couple camo cargos that I wear sometimes. I've got my dress pants and khakis for when I have to wear them but if I had a choice, I'd never wear them.

Instead of members only jacket wear one of these:
http://www.baracuta-g9.com/v3/
(G9 Slimfit Harrington)
This is one of the most iconic jackets thats been around since the 60s and is still here today. From Steve Maqueen, to Frank Sinatra, The Clash, The Jam, Green Day and even Private Ryan (at the end of the movie) everyone should own one of these. This is the best one made but its expensive, I have a Ben Sherman one I got for $20. There's a ton of cheap knockoffs but the one made in England is really good quality.
As long as you don't wear this with Doc Martens you won't be mistaken for a skinhead. And stay away from 'Old Man Blue' (see Saving Private Ryan)
I suggest you don't go to goodwill unles you plan on moving to Billyburg and rock granny glasses and spock-rocker hair.

chinos are khakis and vice versa...Technically khaki is the color of chinos which came from the military and people started wearing them casually (even though wwII khakis had front rises that as Michael Kors would say, "are outta this World)
Id start with a jean-style corduroy like Levis 501 cords. THey are cut the same as a jean but with cord cotton insted of denim. Chinos don't have to be tan, I just got a pair of Calvin Klien chinos that are prety slim fitting in a gray color. Finally you can wear what the Brits call "trousers", basically just a suit bottom. A nice pair of wool slacks can be dressed down with a polo or whatever. Just look for mid-rise, straight leg, no pleats. You want them to fit more like jeans then a suit (below your waist), or you'll look like you are wearing half a suit.

members only jackets are cool in theory. But in practice they scream 2 things: old man and 1988. Its just a Harrington ripoff anyway, might as well get the real and much cooler thing.

I know Barracuta's claims for itself---while I don't have the brand, that simply looks like (what we 'Murricans would call) a golf jacket or windbreaker---I've got a Brooks Bros. (plaid, in cotton & wool) that looks just like it (except for the elasticated cuffs, which are a PITA in the real world) and a Bobby Jones in tan suede that's beat-up and rocks (slim-cut, breaks just above the hips, no elasticated cuffs or elasticated waist).
If sir were looking about for something classic, iconic, trim, and distinctive, perhaps sir should step over to a good military purveyor and examine the masculine good looks embodied in the Eisenhower jacket.
Still, whoever follows (alleged) guitar players' collective advice on style is de facto treading on thin ice.

It would be hard to rock an Eisenhower jacket, epsecially where I live next to a master jet base and a SEAl/Marine base...I saw the Brooks Bros harrington, it looked decent. The thing with all the baracuta knock offs is that none of them have the tartan lining that comes all the way to the zipper, and also when I raise my arms in the baracuta the jacket doesn't ride up. Im not sure how they do this magical feat but its cool. My Ben Sherman fits pretty good too and for $20 you can't beat it. (compared to $240 for the real one) And the baracuta is teflon coated so it beads water really well. One last thing is its double zipped(at top and bottom) another cool feature you won't find in most knock offs.
But yeah its AKA a golf jacket. But the slim fitted ones aren't blousey like the original ones.
