Not sure what you are getting at but...
I use the lesson DVD's all the time they have a great selection, as well as concert DVD's.
We have our Netflix account split into 4 queue's...my wife's, the kids, the full Dark Shadows series, and mine which is music and whatever quirky movies I want to see (ala John Waters, David Lynch, etc...). So, we all have something that we like and only depend on ourselves to get the next DVD. Works out great.

I've borrowed these instructional DVDs from Netflix, all pretty good:
Brent Mason
Scotty Anderson
Johnny Hiland
Brian Setzer
Arlen Roth
Also I recently borrowed 'Standing in the Shadows of Motown', a documentary about the studio musicians that played on all the Motown hits until Gordy moved to LA. Excellent movie. Love the Netflix.

I tried a couple a few years ago, but they don't come with any of the printed materials. So, depending on which DVDs you get, they may be less useful.
I'll have to try some more. Some DVDs have great on-screen instruction without the need for the related written materials.

Oh wow. We used to have a Netflix account and I didn't even know they had any instructional music DVDs.
We cancelled it because it seemed that every 3rd or 2nd DVD we got from them was scratched to the point that it wouldn't play all the way through.

GOOD call. Never thought to look for instructionals. And Netflix is great for documentaries, I loved the Tom Dowd one, going to queue up the motown one now, thanks!
Oh, and I put this one in my saved queue, in the same vein:

The lack of printed materials made the lesson DVDs less useful for me, but they do have a great selection.

Many of the lesson DVD's have a printable/viewable PDF with the lesson material.
I think the better lesson DVD's I've rented are the Jimmy Bruno DVD's, the Joe Pass Solo Guitar DVD, and some other Gospel and Bluegrass DVD's.
I really like the concert selection, I have John Mclaughlin and the 4th Dimension next in my queue!

I've had netflix for about a year now and never once thought to check to see if they had this kind've material. Thanks for this, I'll have to see what all they have.
If you liked the Tom Dowd documentary, definately check out "Chasing Sound", it is an amazing documentary about the life of Les Paul. It's available on DVD and via streaming.

Those are two vids to definitely check out.
Make yourself a queue for nothing but music stuff it helps you manage the DVD's pretty nice.

I've rented a few, and it's worked pretty well. Probably not a great option if you want to do weeks of hard-core study, and not having the printed materials is a negative. But it's a great way to glean some quick ideas, or preview videos that might be worth purchasing.
