TGP Flying V owners - do you find that they are "performance only" guitars or are they comfy enough to just sit around and play? I've always wanted to have a chance to play a good one - ie Korina - what are your experiences??
Thanks

I only use mine for performances / practicing for performances. I LOVE the tone and the feel, but it's just too uncomfy for long term playing while sitting.

I sit at the edge of anything I sit on, and put the lower wing between my legs.

Fine by me.

A korina V is not going to be very user friendly when you play sitting down. As stated above it does work if you put the wing between your legs and adopt an almost classical sitting position. I was never comfortable with that.

I find the korina Explorer to be very ergonomic when sitting. Here are mine.

Yes, maybe.

At least at the time you could still rock in America, although I am not sure how much you could really rock. I don't think there was a rocking mandate, it was a personal choice, as I recall.

Practice standing up! Why not?

Best, Pete.

So bad...thanks for the laugh. I play mine with the wing in the legs too. It's not the most ergonomic guitar, but damn I love the way the look and feel.

V's are fine to sit with.
Reverse Explorers are not.

But seriously, Vs are very comfortable to play sitting or standing :)

I rarely practice sitting down, so my V gets as much use as my others. For some reason I think my V has a better Drop D hard rock sound than any of my other guitars, so I use it for that when recording, and anytime I want something other than a Les Paul sound.

My V is sitting right next to me as I type. I was playing it at the kitchen table the other night with the V between my legs, but sometimes, I just use a strap when I'm sitting down. No problem. Mine is a '67 reissue, so there's no pebbled rubber strip like the Korina Vs.

The rubber pad on the 57 style V is a red herring, it'll never work if you try to sit with the lower wing on your leg. it will just slide off. Tucked in quasi-classical position is nice and comfy and works well.

The reverse V works well, standing, sitting or laying down. it just feels small.
