Hi

Am installing a couple of EMG pickups in a 5-string bass I'm making for my own use and I'd like to add a choke and a midrange control like the Gibson Ripper had. Problem is, I' don't know how, or even if, the principle transfers from passive to active. They are the 4" units for a 5-string- the 40DCs.

The Ripper I had years ago was the best ever for occasionally getting a nice, fat acoustic sound from an electric and I'd like to have something like that again.

Any ideas?

Dave

OK, let me approach it this way: does anyone know of a bass with active electronics that has a midrange control?

there are tons of active preamps with 3-band EQ out there.

Yeah...EMG makes them.
