A friend of mine is getting married in July, and his exact words were "If I'm gonna blow 1000 bucks to have a DJ sit there playing his little disc things, I might as well get something entertaining!"
I take it that's a good thing as far as we're concerned, as he now wants us to play at the reception! The problem is, neither of us knows how much wedding bands get paid! haha!
Now, let's assume the PA is paid for, how much would a wedding band get paid to play for about 2 hours? Assuming we'd be playing our standard setlist (easy stuff to dance to) as well as adding some "wedding songs" to the mix, probably a few of the brides favorites.
Mind you, imagine I don't know this guy, he's just a guy who hired a band, what would a ~standard rate be for a band to play? (since he is a friend, I assume we'll cut him a break and call it a wedding gift! hahaha!)
We were joking about it just today, he said "no no no, you have to paly the WEDDING! I'm expecting a Jimi Hendrix style wedding march"
