I'm looking to get a new amp in the near future and I played a rebel 30 at GC and was thoroughly impressed.
I'm looking for a tube combo amp (1x12) that has great cleans, takes pedals well, decent od, enough power to play with a band, and is compact and convenient for grab and go practicing / gigging.
Channel switching is not essential but would be nice to have.
all that to say... the rebel 30 seems to have me sold unless you guys can convince me that I can find something better for $800 or less :).
I've already got the Marshall (TSL-60 212) and Fender (Rivera K-100 412) bases covered sonically and prefer the fenderish clean. I just need something that doesn't way so stinkin' much and still sings.
Any suggestions? any one with a rebel 30 that could weigh in?
Thanks! :D

I played the Rebel 30 last week. It sounded okay, but not as good as my Tourmaster. The OD was kind of "generic". Lots of gain, but not as much tone.
The clean channel seemed to fall apart when pushed with humbuckers. Clean headroom started to go away at about 9:00 on the volume knob.
Another disappointment was the channel switching. It was intermittant/unreliable. Sometimes it would switch, sometimes it wouldn't. Seemed like a sticky relay. That's very disappointing. That really steered me away from that amp. I've also had reliability issues with my Tourmaster, so I decided against the Egnater.
I ended up bringing home a Peavey Classic 30. That amp is an incredible bargain. The drive channel is at least as good as the Egnater, and the clean channel is much better. It's also small, light, and reliable. I've gigged it twice since then, and I'm very pleased.

If there is any way you could swing a Mesa Boogie Electra Dyne - it would meet most of your criteria except for weight and price! Seriously - an amazing amp tha covers a lot of ground.

I have not heard much about these... I'll look into it. Thanks!!!
The portable / good to go aspect is kind of important. Also, do you think my Rivera has the Fender clean/marshall crunch in head form covered already?

The Electra Dyne is $1,799 and weighs about 75 pounds. Nice amp though.

yea... that would most likely weigh/cost too much (especially w/ the obligatory cab)

If you really liked the Rebel 30 then I would go for it. If you wanted to save some flow look into the Classic 30. Look into the Classic 50 by Peavey or a Rivera combo if you liked them so much.....just ideas.....just ideas my man
