My wife and I sent a wedding present to her brother back in September over in Ohio, we're in Massachusetts. So, some time goes by, and my wife talks to her new sister-in-law about a week ago, and discovers that they never received the package. We checked and apparently we sent it to their old address, completely our fault, not blaming UPS. I guess the people who got the package decided to keep it. Do I have any recourse at all? Should I file a claim with UPS? It really wasn't their fault.....
Any thoughts?
:jo
What recourse would you have?
You could write to the people and ask them return it to you UPS COD and offer to pay them $20 for their efforts.

Technically, I believe they broke the law if they opened something that wasn't addressed to them....they are supposed to turn it back over to UPS...

Sounds like a big hassle to get UPS and the unintended recipient involved.
Just send a new present, and remember to pay better attention to where you're sending stuff moving forward.

Read again. It went to the house it was addressed to.
Surely they had to recognize the name on the box though as the people they bought the house from...no?

+1
It was an honest mistake, no reason to try to spread blame around.

I was just going to let it go, it wasn't really an expensive present, i'm just disappointed in my fellow man. I've been watching My Name is Earl recently, Karma, right?

I think the karma part is being lackadaisical and sending an important present without enough thought....
It is a cheap lesson learned, right? This one is all yours to own! Feel good about that... you can stop the bad karma wheel simply by owning ALL of it.
