Last night my son (7 years) and I had a great time watching Michael live in Bucharest.
He recognized the songs, sang along with a few, loved the dancing, glove, massive crowd...had a big ole smile!
It's a blast to watch him get into it kinda like I did back in the eighties :)

Anyhow...This Is It (just came out today)

I can't wait to see it on IMAX!

just saw this. very good picture of Michael's last performances. I am not a fan but love shows and this was gonna be a doozy. The chick guitar player is very good but needs a better lead sound. She was a very good looking foil for MJ but not featured as prominently as I thought she would be based on the clips on CNN... The drummer was integral to Michael's shows and practices as well as the keyboard player who was the musical director.

MJ was a singular personality and could connect and command attention. He was a true talent.

yeah, my wife wants me to go with her to see it.
I told her the trade off is that I am buying "It might get loud" when it's out on blu-ray.

lol, like it's not manly to go see michael jackson. he was an amazing talent, if you love music and are serious about it, you should WANT to go see it. there should be no "trade-offs"

Got back from seeing it a little bit ago.

Wow! I thought it was very positive and fun. Since we the audience know the outcome...makes it very sad too.
It was surely going to be great. They put their hearts and souls into it...all very talented.

The part where Orianthi and the other guy (wish I knew his name) were jamming their azzes off was pretty killer.
The grin on my son's face was priceless! On the way home my son said he wanted to start practicing guitar more... brought a tear to my eye!

yes, that was a good guitar duet. I also agree with your comments that the rehearsals were positive, fun and upbeat. This was gonna be a killer show. It is a shame that someone couldn't fill in... maybe a a bunch of stars... and do this show as rehearsed as a tribute at O2 and the LA site.
Orianthi is easy to keep your eyes on. She was on morning telly yesterday playing a hackneyed pop guitar rawk that won't do her much except sell some CD's for awhile. That girl needs to get with a good band. Or get a good songwriter and producer.

i'm going to go see it on friday.

is there a lot of scenes with michael singing the songs? Is he still able to sing most of his material well? i always assumed his vocal ability diminished. Because it just seemed on his album released 10 years ago, that his singing didn't have the same power as it did back in the 80's

yes

There are songs where he held back to save his throat or was listening or something where he didn't perform every word, but he threw down in many songs. These were good performances especially the dancing from a 50 year old man. He looked healthy and sounded great.

and the dancers as well as the production crew and musicians were in awe of his ability... the dancers he hired were great but not like MJ.

Which makes the atrocity to follow, more of a surprise and tragic to those close to him.

absolutely and I thought the same thing watching the film... again, I am not a fan but actually considered going to one of the shows to see what this cat could do... and now that will never happen for anybody. watching the film really drives the point home.

question to those who have seen it with kids:

is there anything unsuitable for a 5 year old girl who's a bit of a chicken at movies? (thriller stuff, too loud, etc)

Volume? yes loud but no louder than any other movie
Thriller? there is some updated thriller scenes but didn't last long and were kinda tame
Add a few crotch grabs for good measure and that's about it.
I took my seven year old and all went well...
