Hi guys:

So, I've got a pair of Doc Martens that I love. I've had them for about 8 or 9 years and they need some help. I've worn them so much that the sole is in pretty rough shape and the leather where the shoe meets the sole needs to be repaired.

Anyone have a trusted cobbler? I look on DM's website and it appears that the only authorized DM repair places are in the UK. Anyone have a lead for a guy that just wants his most comfortable shoes back in shape? Thanks!

I'd take them to a few local shoe hospitals and speak to the owners about it.
Many of them have authorized soles that are made for the shoe.
I can remember my brother taking a pair of Birkenstocks to a shoe hospital and they put on the exact same Birkenstock sole the factory uses.
Worth a shot anyway...

You'd be surprised what a good shoe repair guy can do. I brought in a pair of shoes and when I returned for them, I swore they weren't the same ones they looked so good--it took the guy about five minutes for the guy to persuade me they were the same crappy pair I'd brought in. Just getting a Doc Marten type sole on them should be straightforward, if you can get a suitable sole through the guy, or order one from Doc Marten. Just talk to them first to make sure they know what you want.
