Placed my order a few months ago but these were selling for stupid money on Ebay in the last two years.

That's great news. Have always wanted to check out a Wal. Huge Geddy and Justin fan. Kind of a steep base price though ($5600).
What model/woods did you go with?

That's awesome. Great basses. Flea actually used on to record Blood Sugar Sex Magik.

I went with a 4 string MkII and a birdseye top and back, you can see his birdseye in the gallery. I requested a more jazz shaped neck since they use a V-taper. Pretty much the rest is standard woods, mahogony, maple, Indian rosewood.
Deposit to get your order started is 1000 pounds sterling and total cost is 3300 pounds on my order. During the summer the exchange rate on that amount was 4995.00 but now its like 5500+ dollars.:bitch
Also everything is made by hand including the electronics, knobs and the bridge is made by a local machinist. Only off the shelf parts are the tuners which are Schaller.
So if you think about the price for a 100% hand made no CNC bass its not too bad.

Ian Waller died of a Heart Attack in 88. I know Jason Newsted got one of the last Ian Waller basses made.
Pete the Fish was the actual luthier that designed the basses and bodies, Ian was the electronics guy.
Pete hired Paul Herman way back in the 90's, Pete is now retired and Paul is in charge now, so its the same great basses from the same people that have been making them for years.

That is going to be awesome. I really dig the Mach II shape! For the record, I was not complaining about the price - sure it ain't cheep but they are beautiful hand made basses with amazing electronics. My only complaint is a lack of funds to place an order...
S.F. Bay Area... hmmm, maybe I'll get to see this one in the flesh....:wave
Excellent basses, in construction, quality, feel, and TONE. Too expensive for me, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth the cost. If I still had a high paying job I would have probably made the deposit by now.
I'm not-so-secretly hoping that with these back in production the used market will settle down a bit. :D

Do they do local get togethers here like on some of the other gear forums?
It would be cool to have one for the bay area.

IIRC there have been some in the past. Big Mike lives over in the "Raider Nation" so now that the Bay Bridge is finally open again we may be able to visit that other country. I'm down on the Peninsula. I have not been able to make any of the gatherings, but it may well be time to start orgainizing a SF Bay Area TGP gathering. Of course we should not schedule it before that Wal of yours is safely delivered! ;)

Very cool. Let me know if something develops (if I can make it it would be pretty nice).

Truly great sounding basses. I hope the quality lives up to the price point now that there are so many choices in boutique basses out there. Nothing sounds quite like a Wal though.

I wish I had the funds right now for this one on Ebay, I always wanted a fretless Wal, check this out, I know Jeff Amnet and Justin Chancellor have this exact same spec fretless with Walnut top.
