I'm tried of clearing off the dining room table everytime I need to change strings so I put this together. It's primitive but it does the job. It's located in my basement where we practice.

Looks good. I don't think it's too primative at all. Looks like you have everything you need except maybe a little battery powered amp just to plug in.

nice. +1 on the small amp idea.
You may want to add an angle brace to keep it from wobbling if it's wobbly.
But I am envious, that's a great idea and well executed.
P.S. What are you planning on doing to guitars that may require a fire extinguisher?

Very cool, I'd love to have a set up like that!

Functional and cheap!
Can't get much better than that.
I like it!
By the way, I have that same soldering iron (as long as it is a 379).
Best bang for the buck station out there.

If that's primitive I wonder what you'd call advanced...

Good idea with the amp

It is very sturdy and does not wobble. Fire extinguisher is now centrally located and visible. It was tucked in a corner before. Need to be prepared when someone sets fire to their guitar!

Yes, it is the 379.......I agree!
Nice :D

Stores the Fender mat and neck cradle.
Thanks everyone for your comments!

Looks great. Be careful with the tools on the pegboard. If the bench wobbles at all they can fall on your work. That's the only thing that I'd change on my bench.
Also, if you decide you'd rather work standing up, get a rubber anti fatigue mat.

Very nice setup, but I would put that row of screwdrivers/pliers closer to the table ...

..even if the tools don't fall onto your work, there is still the danger that whilst lifting one out you accidently drop it or dislodged another one to fall onto your work.

That's a great idea! It would avoid the fumble finger disaster of a screw driver spearing the body. I'm going to mount the holder to the left side of the table.

yes it's the '56 P90 Goldtop. I am exploring replacing the stock tuners with vintage keystones.

For me, it's the cans on the shelf I worry about over the screwdrivers, though both deserve consideration. I think the only suggestion folks here have is to make sure there's nothing that could slip off and fall on a guitar you're working on and ding or scratch it.
Looks really effective to me - now you just need a bunch of dust and spare parts lying around ....
Looks great, Dana O.

I want... no, NEED one of those. If I only had a place in my small house to put it!!
My current setup involves a guitar case across a keyboard stand with a floor mat on top of the case to protect it. You want to talk wobbly? I'm surprised I haven't knocked the thing over and burned the carpet with the soldering iron yet.
Can you post your plans? I honestly think it's just about perfect and would like to build one for myself someday.

That can *IS GOING* to fall. Feel free to as me how I know such things...
Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of anything hanging over a guitar.

A good space make it enjoyable to do the work. You could easily hang a drawer under the work surface to accomodate the stuff that comes with GAS. Also, for me, I'd need a bigger fire extinguisher and a much bigger mallet.
Looks like a great place to spend quality time.

I like it! I have a similar setup in my basement with all my soldering tools and setup gear. I do everything but painting and sanding down there.

Nice - just needs a tuner.
Looks good, nicely done!
I can imagine that horizontal work surface getting cluttered in a hurry if I were using it. :) Another adjacent work surface or two, and/or a nice shelf next to it may be handy.

Where the Peterson strobe rack tuner? No work bench is complete without one
Be careful with the tools on the pegboard. If the bench wobbles at all they can fall on your work. That's the only thing that I'd change on my bench.
Another +1. Even if the bench is secure, you'll eventually accidentally knock something off while reaching for a tool.
