This has probably been discussed, but let's rehash it. ;)
Need a new phone.
Probably a Blackberry. It is offered through ATT (which I have now) or Verizon.
Verizon shows it has much better coverage, but what's the experience of some of the members here?

As long as you don't need to talk to customer service on the telephone....Verizon all the way.
Here's a thread i started recently:

People who answer honestly, as far as coverage which to me, is the whole point of a cell phone, should say that this question can only be answered in reference to your area. Verizon sucks here where I live but is spot on where my Dad lives when I visit. Depends on where you live. Unfortunately, the only REAL way to tell what coverage works is either have the phone yourself and use the network where you need it or, pay attention to the service of those around you with those specific networks.

I have ATT&T. The coverage is good for 3G here and I don't really have any issues with service. My friend works at the ATT store so if I have any issues, I can call him. The one time I called customer service though, it was very quick and painless. I can't really complain.

I had such a bad time with Verizon that I will never go back. Their customer service was terrible. I am currently with ATT and have no complaints.

Bingo. Used to have an ATT company phone. Couldn't even make a call from my house. :messedup Everything else is pretty much moot for me...

My wife and I went over this for about two months when we were about to get married. All of my friends and family are on Verizon, all of her's are on AT&T. While we're away from both families, it made more sense to go with Verizon bc of my discount and since she usually only talks to her family and friends later in the evening.
When we visited he folks last month, we nearly ran out of mins! So, when we move out there, we'll most likely have to switch again.
And I agree with everyone else - Verizon's customer service is HORRIBLE. I had FIOS for a few months and they automatically fused my two accts together without notifying me. Once I shut off the FIOS (due to a move), it became a huge mess. It took nearly 6 mos. for them to figure out my acct info and finally allow me to pay the bill. Thankfully, it didn't go on my credit or anything like that.

We have ATT right now.
It is a total-unlimited plan, so no surprises on the bill.
We've been trying to think about it, but can't recall having coverage issues.
ATT has an easy bill to read, and I pay them online, and we have a store pretty close by, so I think we'll stay put.
I guess I need to edit the title and ask about iPhone vs. Blackberry now.

iPhone vs Blackberry. Those are two totally different phones in two different sub-categories of the "smartphone" category if you ask me. They both have similarities but rely on their differences to sell to certain demographics. I have the iPhone 3GS. My good friend has his Blackberry. He is currently hating the Blackberry. His boss however has a Blackberry and loves it. Both are the Blackberry storms. I have never gotten into the Blackberry thing. For me, when I need to work and do things related to work I hope to actually be at work. When I'm not working I plan to be on my phone for games, web-browsing and anything else but work. I guess IMO, the BB is more work oriented as where the iPhone has really let me take my old iPod and combine that with an incredible app machine with a user friendly interface. I went with the 32GB because that is the music I need. My main iPod is still my 120GB. Either way, it again comes down to YOU. What do YOu like/want/need etc. Hope this helps some.

I would say Verizon's network is better on paper and in my experience traveling across the US. It really depends on where you live though. Find two friends with ATT and Verizon and use their phones in your area.
Up until recently Verizon didn't have a phone worth owning in my opinion, but they changed that with the Droid.

I had Verizon for 9 years, great reception, terrible customer service. I now have AT&T, and the reception is not as good, but it's ok.
I was a long-term customer with 5 Verizon accounts. I left them because of the way they mistreated me. I'll never sign with them again.

The only reason to be on AT&T is the iPhone. If you're looking at a Blackberry just go Verizon and get a phone that works most places.
