I had an audition last night and when I got to the practice space which was in an unused store of a strip mall, I couldn't get my pedalboard to work. I thought it was the usual patch cable's or power supply, but I'm not sure that was the case. I even tried them pedal by pedal with batteries and the light would come on, but no sound. When I got home I set everthing up and it worked just fine. Could this be due to the heavy flourescent lighting in the place? Any help would be greatly appreciated as they want me to come back in two days.

Sounds like it might've been the amp, not the pedals.
Did you plug straight into the amp to make sure it was ok?
Funky power outlet? Bad guitar cord?
Use the exact same stuff as at practice and it should work.

Did you try another AC outlet? You may have been plugged into one that was on a switch circuit. Other than that, all I can think is that it was your instrument cable going to or coming out of the pedalboard.
If you're using a brick type power supply, was that plugged in correctly?
99% of the time I have PB problems, it's either a patch cable or a power lead. But you already know that.
Usually, though, it's something simple that gets overlooked.

I used all the same cords. The guitar worked plugged into the amp, and I could get sound when going into the pedals that were true bypass, just when I engaged them the light went on, but no sound.

This is why I used to always bring a small "backup" pedalboard to an audition or gig - just a BCB-3 with a tuner, overdrive and delay all with fresh 9V. Enough to get through most stuff.

Man, that's weird. Must be bad strip-mall ju-ju.

You bring a pedalboard AND a backup pedalboard to auditions? Really?

hey, i have played some old clubs and buildings in my day. bad electricity is what caused that. not enough voltage, phase issues,.... due to poor wiring. i have invested in a Furman unit that reads and regulates power. at least it shows me when poor electric supply is to blame. my trusty back up amp (Tech 21 Trademark 60) always works when my regular rig just won't fire up.
that is a sinking feeling
