Yes, I deleted the old thread and created this new one so I could have a poll. Thank you to everyone who commented on the old thread.

I'm looking at two different 60's RI strats. They're the same guitars, but one has Dimarzios and the other has the SCN's. I have the one with SCN's here in my possession. It seems like it's got an extreme amount of low end. I have to lower the bass on my amp or pod and crank the tone up to 7 or 8 to clean it up. The Areas I had on my old strat didn't seem like they had that much bass. I didn't have it long enough though to really work out the Dimarzio pickups.

Anyway, your thoughts on the two sets of pups. I'd be using these for overdriven and clean tones. Nothing metal or extreme distortion.

Dimarzios. I have heard the areas, but am not sure which models they were. Sounded great. I am not a huge SCN fan so......

SCNs do sound great but nothing like vintage strat pickups. Dimarzios don't have quite as much vintage mojo as great single coil pickups but they are the closest I've heard.

I'll find out soon..........replacing mine with 2 Area 58s and 1 Area 61 plus vintage RSR electronics in a 57 vintage hot rod.

I've got an Area 61 (neck) and an Area 67 (middle) in my guitars. They sound killer! Snappy, twangy, greasy and responsive!:dude

I voted for Areas also. Not too crazy about Fender's offerings. To me, the Areas are the best bang for your buck. The sounded great in a Nash strat that I had (58-58-61). I just decided to strip down to a couple of Suhrs that have the built in SSC (the BEST choice IMO).

I can't remark about a strat but in my tele the area's blew away the SCN's. The SCN's were really lifeless sounding. The area's brought the guitar to life.

I'm running a 61 (neck), 58 (mid), 54 Pro (bridge). I love this set up. It did take a long time to get them dialed in, but I am very happy right now. The quack in the 2 and 4 positions really seems to depend on what amp I am running through. They respond to picking dynamics and the volume knob very well.
