I just went through my DVD collection and realized how little I watch many of these movies. What's the best way to get rid of them? Pawn shop?

If you're not looking for money you could donate to the local Library system or to a second hand store.

I would like to get some money for them if possible. It's mostly box sets of tv shows I am getting rid of. Simpsons, Futurama, Columbo to name a few.

If you want cash, CL or eBay is probably your only hope.

ebay.
I once put a whole box on Ebay with a BIN of $300. Some video store in FL snatched it right up.

Staple them to the wall as a form of decorative theatrical art.

We had a Garage Sale over the summer. We listed DVDs in the newspaper ad and sold well over a 100 at $4 each.
We had some tv box sets, Simpsons, Friends etc and sold those for $8 each.

I sold a hundred or so on there and made money on my out-of-print foreign ones. I think I just about broke even on my whole collection!
Note: Ebay would be a PITA for this sort of thing. On Amazon, you just put the price you want and wait for a buyer. Email comes to you and tells you where to ship. Money is moved into your checking at the end of the period (monthly).

A lot of people don't know about this site but it's run by and through ebay. I just sold a dozen DVDs up there and they went like hotcakes. A LOT less hassle than ebay.

I grouped a few DVDs together in the past to sell as a DVD lot on ebay. I only got like $4, $5 for each when it came down to it, but yeah, sometimes you end up with a movie like Bride of Chucky, and it'd be nice to buy a burger with the proceeds.
FWIW, I brought in some movies to the library once, and they never made it onto the shelf (I looked during my next few visits). I was so pissed. I don't know if the people at the desk took em home or what.
