I know it's probably somewhere on the metro site but is there a specific step-by-step recipe listed somewhere?

Just look at the two schematics. Basically the shared cathode and a very few parts. You should have no problem with it.

A bit o/t, but the first Marshall I ever liked was a 1986 I converted to 1987 specs and changed from 6550's to EL34's. That thing just sang when turned up to about 5-6. Great tone. As JZ mentioned, just look at the schems. Its really quite straight-forward.
