I was thinking about it as I got ready for work. Each day I:

1) shower with a shampoo that has some fragrance. Peach or Orange today
2) wash with some liquid soap..Irish Spring I think.
3) brush my teeth..minty smell.
4) mouth wash, also mint
5) underarm deoderent - Code Red speed stick of some sort. Can't ID the smell but it's there.
6) Cologne - out of habit I guess. Gucci or Aramus

That's alot of smells to cover up my own.

More than I want. It's really hard to find unscented, shampoo, soap, and deodorant.

Actually, it's not that hard... I just use the same soap-free cleanser for my hair as well as the rest of me. Of course, unscented antiperspirant was the e-z-est to find, having several brands from which to choose.

The one that took the longest to beat into submission was shaving cream! I need an uber-sensitive-skin version and I've tried a few that were advertised as 'neutral fragrance' ... which turned out to be heavily scented. :FM Finally found one that truly is un-perfumed. :aok

excellent post!! i've been complaining about this for years! add the smells from hairspray and makeup and god knows what else that women use and it makes for a stink fest. i think smells should be coordinated with each other. like the same manufacturer should make all those products with the same scent. phew, that feels better!!!

Do you mind sharing your brands? PM or reply to thread is good. I have a lot of trouble with underarm deodorant, currently I'm using Secret or Suave (secret knockoff...) would like to try a more manly deodorant but they all give me a hard time, maybe unscented would help?

Thanks

Steve

Aveeno sensitive shaving cream (gel, actually) is pretty unscented...

hardly any, actually. the shampoo i do. but my wife is into unscented organic crap, even our Tom's of Maine toothpaste barely leaves a minty fresh scent in my mouth. It's not to where you could drink orange juice afterward, but it's not Crest-fresh either.

I feel your pain, Steve!

I have a cr@pload of environmental allergies, and a lotta fragrances give me instant congestion or 'sneezles' or itchy, watering eyes. Some fun, huh Bambi? ;) Needless to say, walking into a room (or store or office) with folks who don't have a clue how to use their perfume or cologne just ain't pleasant. :facepalm

For 'pit juice' (as we used to call it when we were clueless teen boys!) I used to use Dry Idea (unscented, of course) ... but they changed the formula many years ago to an 'instant sniffles and sneezes' version, so I switched to Arrid unscented. Then its formula was 'upgraded' five or six years ago and I needed to find a new product once again. Since then, it's been Ban unscented.

Keep in mind, products can be different on this side o' the border, so YMMV...

For shaving, I've finally found something useful: L'Oréal Men Expert Anti-irritation Gel. As mentioned earlier, other 'anti-irritation' or 'sensitive skin' gels and foams turned out to be insanely heavily fragranced, even if the physical properties were skin-friendly. :(

Toothpaste is another pain... literally! I'm tired of minty toothpastes that burn the gums. That tingle you feel ain't a good thing, folks. :nono In my oh-so-lucky case, the tingle really is more of an unpleasant burning sensation. Yummy. :FM

I think the real question is how many smells do I give off each day.

Agreed on getting them coordinated. Long overdue.

Today is,

Shampoo
Conditioner (both apple)
Soap (Irish Spring)
Toothpaste
Mouthwash (mint)
Shaving Cream (agreed with the previous poster about Aveeno, good stuff there with little scent)
Deodorant (Right Guard)

It's amazing sometimes we don't stink worse stepping out of the bathroom than when we walked in. :rotflmao
