Bedell acoustics?

What's up with these guitars? More to the point, what's up with the insane marketing blitz? Seems like every mag I pick up has two or three Bedell ads. I haven't even played one yet and I'm already sick of them.

Any Bedell lovers out there care to talk me down?

I have not yet played one, but I heard the following background from one of their dealers that may explain the marketing blitz.

Basically, the owner has tons of money behind him from a family business. After years of doing the corporate thing and running the family business, he decided to finally go back to what had been his original dream - making guitars. The family business is a very large fishing equipment manufacturer, which has been operating in China for many years. As a result, the owner knew very well how to operate in China - issues to avoid, how to get the best people, etc.

I am in the market for an OM-sized guitar, and I may try a Bedell this weekend.

I would be curious to hear what people have to say about these; I can't really find any reviews from people that actually played them... The parlor size guitars look pretty cool.

What I can't find anywhere is what kind of finish is on it? From the looks, they look like a poly finish on it, but some of the Asian brands like The Loar and Recording King put nitro finishes on their's. Anyone know about this?
