..........and when I play it back, it stops occasionally----freezes the picture, then comes back on after a few seconds.
I'm a full-fledged computer idiot. Any suggestions?

Anything to do with the "firewall", or "fire fox", or some such thing?
I'll of course need someone to define BOTH these items for me.
Thanks.

No. It varies as to where it stops. Usually 3-4 times during the video.
Frustrating, because it's such a cool video.

contact apple support and complain. they will credit you for the video and you try downloading it again. i downloaded some BSG episodes once and one of em had no sound. a quick complaint and they credited me right away

Well, I may do that.
Seems a couple years ago I was having similar issues watching vids on youtube. Like it doesn't fully load and has to stop to finish.
If your watching the movie as it streams, then your download speed or Apple's transmission rate is too slow at the moment. Could be network traffic or something else.
There is a "buffer" downloaded (a certain amount of the movie is queued up) before the movie will start, and that buffer is not being replenished fast enough.
I have an Apple-TV (rent or buy movies from iTunes) and this stop/start problem occurred to me once in two years of flawless rentals. I clicked on the "report a problem" link in my purchase history (in your iTunes account page) and Apple gave me full credit for the movie.

Do you have a broadband connection, and normally get good download speeds with it?
Apple will very likely give you a credit.

Might be your computer... I once bought a movie on iTunes and I know that it downloaded entirely, rather than streamed as I was watching. If that's the case here it probably means your computer's too slow.

I wondered if this might be his situation too.
Major-minor, what computer are you using, what speed is the CPU and how much memory?

160GB.
512MB
Remember-----I'm a computer illiterate. Not sure what "CPU" is, or how you tell the speed of it.
Do you have a Mac or a PC?
If a PC, click on My Computer, then the about or info page.
If you have a Mac, click on the Apple icon then the about this Mac ... mine looks like this:

my CPU or processor is 1.66 GHz, and memory is 2 gig.
on a PC something like this:

ONly 512 meg of RAM (memory) is not much these days. That could be a choking point.

It's a PC made by E-Machines.
Here's the info I found:
1.99 GHz

That should be fine.

The movie has probably downloaded completely now. My guess is that while "streaming" the movie over the Internet during download, your download speed, or Apple's transmit speed, was inadequate. Why is anybody's guess.

So what's the video?
Did you recently run one of those Apple Updates to a new version of iTunes? New ones come out about every two weeks, it seems like.
It's an old machine, and it seems to me that what could have happened is you updated iTunes and Apple's relentless march towards new updates has pushed iTunes to a point that your machine can no longer run video in it smoothly.
You could install a previous version of iTunes to get back to a version that your computer is happy with, but based on your posts in this thread (no offense, seriously) this is something you should get someone to help you with if at all possible. Running an upgrade is easy; running a downgrade is not that simple and you could wipe out your iTunes library if you don't take it easy.
Or, like 5E3 said, maybe it just wasn't done downloading yet.
Hope it helps.
So what video was it?

Song is called Fireflies. Group (guy ?) is called Owl City.
Not normally into music videos much, but I found this one just amazing. Tremendous amount of thought and creativity went into it. Plus---I really dig the song.
Youtube it if you can. It's just alot of fun musically and visually.
Oh-----and thanks for all the help everyone. Wish I was more computer savvy.

Cool.
Yeah I don't usually buy videos, they're on YouTube for free, but if one speaks to you on that level it's nice to own it.

I was playing this just now and my 16 year old daughter came over to watch, she loves this song. She had not seen the video.

Another example of stuff that's out there---away from the "mainstream", that just blows away what's popular.
I mean if we have to give awards for videos-----this one should rank WAY up. However---most will never see it, or even know who Owl City is.

Wonder what Kon-yah would think of it?
