View Full Version : How to avoid Paypal Fees...

Saw this on another forum; don't know if this has ever been posted but I thought I share this with you when paying for items in the emporium using paypal. This only works for direct transfers out of your bank account and not on CC transactions...still have to pay the fees on those. Coverage? Woudn't think so but I"m not sure but I would assume not. Send and receive money at your own risk when doing transactions through this method.
When you click on the "Send Money" tab:

there are 2 choices for you..."Purchase" or "Personal":

Select "Personal", then "Payment Owed", then "Continue":

Unless it's changed, there are no fees to SEND money, just to receive it.

wouldn't use it on ebay...this is just for the emporium and for people you trust buying from...just a way to avoid those fees...

You have ZERO protections if you choose this, unless you use your credit card and claim fraud. There is no way to challenge this sort of payment.

I'd rather be protected than save the seller 3%.

You can't use your credit card for this sort of transfer. There is zero protection, nor should there be as it's explicity stated to be for transfers of a personal nature, not commercial transactions. Caveat emptor.
I'd rather be protected than save the seller 3%.

No buyer protection. The money's gone, and technically you are owed nothing for it.

I think I'd rather pay the 3% so I'd have some protection.

I just got paid this way.
The transaction says:
"Payment owed from"
What does that mean? Am I OK as a seller to ship my giutar?
Thanks
Sure, from reading the responses above it sounds like you can even keep the guitar! :rotflmao
