... in one day.

However, I am thankful for the time I spent playing the piano with my kids last night, teaching them a couple of songs and laughing my butt off with them.

Bottom line: you can't beat music and kids when you're down and out.

mojocaster:

Two books for you (or anyone): Man's Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl and When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron.

Children and music are great healers. Those things and the two books mentioned above have gotten me through what I first thought were unbearable, impossible and unfathomable events/things/times.

You'll survive and thrive. Happy Thanksgiving.

Hey Mojocaster,

So sorry to hear things are rough at the moment. You've put a lot of good karma into the universe with your videos and square dealings (I'm loving the Godin I got from you). It will come back to you, it just takes a bit of time.....in the words of George Harrison, "all things must pass."

I appreciate all the kind words, support and mojo sent...

I don't want to spill my guts here, because this is about music, not my personal tale of woes... and so was this thread!

I was just trying to reach out to others who may be having trouble, and showing them one way that really lit up my day and lifted some of my worries. My kids are everything to me, and I love spending time with them. I always end up a pure winner when I do, even if what we do is not going to amount to much... it's great for us.

And to add music to that equation, and to see their smiles and the fun they have sitting with me on a simple piano bench, spending time together, playing London bridge is falling down 250 times in a row until we get it right... it's pure, pure joy.

And thanks for the book titles, I will look into them! :)

I am a fortunate man in many ways, and you guys just showed me yet another one. You don't know how appreciative I am of that.

I certainly can relate to that with 3 little noisemakers in my house. Kids remember the oddest little things you did when they grow up--I know I do, some not so pleasant. That's why my job is to keep it together.

A book entitled "Peaceful Mind" has helped me a lot, it brings in the practice of Mindfulness to your daily life. Helps us catch those bad thoughts and say to them "you're banned from this place." Very practical.
This too will pass.

Mojo:

Music is balm for the soul. And in my experience, many of the people who truly care about music also care about each other. So here's hoping things get better for you, and that you have even more things to be thankful for.

Sending you good wishes and postive vibes during this difficult time. It's great to hear that you can still appreciate life's simple and important joys (your children and music) and even keep a sense of humor up.

Been there before. The good news is that, as an early poster noted, this too shall pass.

Maybe a few more photoshopped pics of you sitting in with some hall of fame heavys might be a distraction (I know I love 'em).

Happy Thanksgiving,

Edward

This has been the worst year of my life, with a separation & pending divorce, but my 3 girls keep me grounded & every moment shared makes me smile.

Your positive attitude just made me smile too.

Be strong my friend & keep your chin up & know that you're not alone ! :beer

This is my 3rd year getting through the holidays with just my girls jumping between
my place and their mother's.

Now with two in college and one just married, I finally have time for music.

Just gotta get my old butt out of this chair. :-)

We all go through crap. Day in, day out. This year was not a good one. Mom`s bout with lung cancer, then a staff and urinary tract infection, then pneumonia. My arthritis and most recently a bout with what I think was swine flu(worst I`ve ever felt in my life). I was out of work for 14 months and was forced to sell a lot of things to stay afloat. Sis has nerve issues in both hands and needs usrgery. It just keeps coming and we keep fighting. You`ll get through like we all do. Just don`t give up.
