The wife needs a new AWD sedan, no trucks or suv's. She's replacing a '03 Jaguar X-type fully loaded that's been a great car, but it's crossed over 100,000.
I'm deciding between a 08/09 BMW 530xi or 535xi, Cert.Pre Owned
OR
The Subaru Legacy LTD.- new
What do you think?

How about an x-drive 3 series? The 335ix is a nice package. I think I'd rather have a new 3 than a used 5 series.

I looked at the BMW 5 Series and chose to go with an Acura RL used last year. It's been a fantastic car with Honda reliability. I got it with a 100K 7 year new car warranty.
That being said, we've owned about 10 Subarus and my wife has a Legacy and my son has a WRX. They are also great cars, and bullet-proof. At about the same price, I would choose the used Acura.

The 3's are nice but too small for our needs. I liked it but it's going to be her car.

Is the Acura RL AWD?
The criteria is the back seat has to be bigger than what we have.
Seat heaters.
Nav. system.
Leather.
I guess.....fully loaded.

My wife drives an 07 530xi. She loves it. Our 9th BMW. First AWD BMW and I'm really impressed with the handling in MN winters. 70k on it now and it's been a great car. Plenty of power for her with the 6spd and sport package. Can't go wrong with Subaru other than it's not as "nice" as the BMW but will cost less and be more reliable.
Me I prefer a bit more HP but retain the AWD. :)

Ah . . . very nice, JES1680. I'm rather fond of the RS4s.

I had had a 2008 Infiniti G35X for about two years now and am very pleased. Lots of power, lots of amenities. The all wheel drive is superb in the wet weather we often have here.

I've got a WRX wagon with 30,000 on it - great car, no troubles, and a BLAST to drive. I drove a 2009 Legacy when my girl was looking for a new car several months ago and loved it (she went with a new Mazda 6 instead - also a cool car). The new Legacy looks great and if they make a wagon it may be my next car.

I drive an Audi A6 4.2. AWD, great power and handling, very comfy, solid ride. I've put 94,000 miles on it and only regularly scheduled maintenance. Give one a try.

The 2010 Subaru Outback is just 1-2K more than the Legacy and is worth checking out as well

I also get a $3,300 discount on the Subaru as a member of PSIA.
I'm starting to lean towards the Subaru just for the practical aspect, economics, etc. And it has everything she wants.
The BMW is nice and carries a little more status as well as the Lexus, Infiniti, Acura. I'm sure they are great cars too.
Just as an aside.....I was parked at the market in her Jag, she was picking up a couple things while I waited and made a couple calls. As she was coming out a couple employees were staring out the glass doors. She asks them what they're looking at and they reply "we're looking at that beautiful car with the guy on his cell phone".
Kinda hard to give that up.
