Yup. I'll be staying home tomorrow. Unless I decide I really need some parts for the Bassman build, in which case I might visit my local electronics shop-- but I doubt anyone else will be there.

Yup, nothing is what I'll be buying. In fact, I'm considering not even buying the latest ed. of Adbuster; I'm thinking I'll just read it in the local bookstore and send 'em a donation equal to the cover price.

I actually like to save money. I'll be buying clothes for myself online in my underwear, no lines.

Yep, sorta. I will probably buy a granola bar out of the vending machine, but that's it.

More than likely I won't be buying anything until about Dec. 23rd (and even then, probably not too much stuff).

Same here - and only if I have to! Prefer to avoid crowds (kinda have to), but especially want to avoid traffic. This time of year makes me wish I lived in a little rural town...

My brother does this as a tradition, every Christmas eve he takes his kids and go buys a few last minute gifts. He thinks it cool, I think he's an idiot. I went with him once and it is pretty interesting sociologically speaking seeing people all stressed out running around, lol..but then the drive home and traffic is dangerous with people driving like nutters trying to get that damn Tickle Me Elmo or whatever

I went to the mall just yesterday and ended up with a sweet black button down for $12. It would probably be like $9 tomorrow but, meh.

In our city, we just voted down the construction of a Wal-Mart superstore, so the existing Wal-Mart did a big remodel. I get my oil changed there because it's about the best deal around on an oil change. Other than that, I try to avoid going there. I guess that makes me a hypocrite to some extent.

But while the oil change was going on, I had to roam around for 1/2 hour or so. It seemed as if people were pushing their carts around as if they were expecting to find something new.

I find the Black Friday thing equally as ridiculous and kind of....I don't know.....crass?

They say circumstance doesn't make the person, it reveals him. What does that say about us? Maybe I'm overthinking it or being too critical, but I think Black Friday fever is a symptom of a serious problem we have in this country.

Just saw a facebook from a friend up in Northern MN. He, his Wife, and their 3 children are spending the night in Duluth tonight just so they can hit the stores right away. He says she's "very excited".

:facepalm

I swore off Black Friday about 6 years ago, when I was REALLY tempted to beat a guy up in Best Buy. His crime was grabbing the last 2 video cards I was there for, when he could only buy one. He literally ran from me into the crowd.

Now, me and the boys just stay home and have a movie marathon. This year is Star Trek, from NextGen on. Last year was Star Trek first generation movies. Year before that was either Star Wars or LOTR....

My peaceful state of mind at home is worth far FAR more than any discount I could get on some piece of crap I most certainly don't need.

most of the "discounts" are very limited to a few in stock items. It's just to get you in the door where you will spend your money on items that are the same price as any other day.

Consume, obey... etc...

You callin' me an idiot? ;)

Actually, you're right, it is pretty stupid to wait until the last minute. But I'm going to be really busy until about the 21st or 22nd, so I won't really have the time or patience to shop before then.

There was only ONE thing I was interested in at Best Buy, and it's NOT on sale so I'm NOT going. I'll go another day during the week when it's sane for shopping. Besides, we're not buying much this year anyway. The recession's over MY BUTT!

I'm not even leaving my house.

I tried to go to the post office last year on the day after Thanksgiving.......huge mistake. Only an idiot or a total sheep would leave his house today.

And where did all this "Black Friday" mania come from anyway? This year, the retailers are even referring to it as a "Black Friday Sale"......that's a new one on me.

Relaxing day for me. My wife finished holiday shopping last week. She is money sometimes. No way you are getting me near the mall on a day like this. Plenty of beer and leftover turkey in the fridge, life is good.

We bought about $300 worth of gifts for family for about $100, got to chat with some fun people in the long lines, and give a couple bucks and kind words to the sweet people braving the cold to ask for money for the homeless. Maybe I'm crazy, but I love it!

Baaahh!
