Basketball's Shaquille O'Neal pays for North Carolina girl's funeral.

Dont know if this has been posted. Did a search and didn't see it.

But this is a nice thing for Shaq to do. Like him or not, that was a cool move!

Shaq is great. He may have a big mouth (but he is one of the best big men in history), but he really does some great stuff in the community.

I use to think like that and then I thought hey maybe if the super wealthy among us see others doing nice things and leading by example it would encourage them to do the same. Why the need to turn a positive into a negative?

TRUE Shaq story: he's driving down a freeway in L.A. (back when he was a Laker), and up ahead, he spots a family standing around a car that has smoke pouring out of the engine. Shaq pulls over, gets the family into his Escalade, drives them to an auto dealership and BUYS them a new SUV.

TRUE Alonzo Mourning story: when Alonzo was with the Heat, he heard through a team source that one of the young ball-boy kids was about to lose his home, because his Dad had been laid off. Alonzo, on the spot, writes the kid a check for $40,000, and tells him, "As long as you're on this team, you'll always have a home."

Nice to hear good stories about sports stars instead of a court date!

He was a pretty good cop on the beach, too, by accounts in my backyard. Could you imagine getting pulled over by that mutha? Instant peace-maker there...

I was a Shaq fan when he first joined Orlando (since I lived there) and then I hated him when he left. Now, I like him again.

I barely know who he is (tall guy, right? ;)) but seriously, that was an extra special nice thing he did. Leading by example, kudos to him for this.
