Who else watches this show? I love it! It's a TV show from England where they take classic European cars from the 1980's and refurbish them for re-sale. They aired a marathon of the shows today and I've been glued. It's a shame it would be very difficult to do this same thing in the US:(

I used to have my motorcycle workshop around the corner from Edd`s house. He used to pop round asking about various engines for his project cars.
He`s a nice guy. Very talented and very tall.
He`s best known for his motorised sofa car.

Sounds like a fun show. On which network does it air?

HD Theater here in the States.
And I try to stay away from their Auto Trader show, even though I know the prices are in Pounds it's tough to see some of those cars going for so "cheap."

I do - in fact, it's playing on my HDTV downstairs right now!
I love Wheeler Dealers! They had a marathon run of the program yesterday and I recorded something like 20 episodes. It's great having them on the DVR because you can skip over the commercials.
Ed is an amazing mechanic. He makes jobs like brakes and rust repair look very easy. The complete respray jobs look fantastic, after a ton of prep work of course.
The funny thing about the "total cost" involved in one of their restore projects is that labor is never included. Ed might put 40, 80 or even more hours into a big project and that would add a fortune to the cost of the project. I guess labor is not addressed since the show is aimed at do-it-yourself viewers. On the other hand, some of the restores they do are quite simple; bolt on parts, etc.
Excellent show. Some of their remarks are really funny too! :)

They've posted a few episodes on You Tube. Just a little over 3 grand for a nice Corvette?! :((

You guys realize they're talking pounds not dollars, right? $5k for that car is about right in that condition. When you start doing the math, you'll realize they spend a lot of coin fixing up those cars, and don't make much profit.

I`m sure they never make much profit. As 5E3 said, they never include any labour costs.
It`s entertaining but not much of a business.

I like watching the show more from the buying and keeping it view point. Buying something for $5000 or less and making it an everyday work car. They did a BMW E30 that would have been perfect for that role.

I watched the Corvette episode just this morning. They ding'ed us Yanks pretty hard on the "American electrics" not working. IIRC the British MG cars were notorious for electrical problems, so I guess we are even. :D
Regarding the Corvette, they couldn't stop complimenting the 5.6 liter V8, both sound and power. They absolutely loved it!
By the way, current exchange rate is $1.65 USD = 1 British Pound Sterling.
Excellent show! :aok

I've always wondered, which cars could you buy and refurbish in America for $5000? Something with some resale value.
