please wait, that forumite might be out of town due to the holidays.

It is very strange to have a bad deal here on TGP.

Had a guy ignore my attempts at contact over a speaker I wanted to purchase from him here last week.

Some people lead much more digital lives than others.

Typically, I'm never away from email for more than a couple of hours. Even when I'm traveling, visiting relatives, deep sea diving, or playing snuggle-bunnies with sexy twins, I get jittery if I haven't checked email in 5 or 6 hours.

Other people, they check it when they are at work every couple of days at the most. If they are not at work, they don't check it at all. With the holiday weekend, there's a good chance your seller just isn't open for business at the moment. Has he logged onto TGP since you sent the email?

My guy has been on numerous times since I told him I'd buy the speaker.

Has happened to me... no simple PM of "changed my mind" or "Sold!" or anything... oh well. Price they asked for and everything. The feeling of some kinda unworthiness sux... makes you kinda pissed, but it's better than actually dealing with 'em I guess.

OP... yeah it's probably holidays, hopefully. Good luck.

Has he posted on the forum since you have been trying to get ahold of him? Just find a conversation he's having with someone else, and interrupt. Not really the best way to go about it, but it seems you have exhausted most conventional options.

Have you contacted the forum moderators yet?

If not, I highly encourage you to do so before you do anything to earn a forum ban.

You going down in flames won't help anything. Taking out a (potential) deadbeat will help everyone.

why is this crap in amps & cabs?

Why isn't your name on any purchases in any emporium? All I see is 2 inquires to pedals?!

I only PM if I am interested in anything. I seldom post in addition to PMing. Why stir up unwanted competition?

Brian Scherzer

My best advice is that when something seems wrong early in an attempt to buy something, don't go any further. Nobody who posts an ad HAS to respond to a potential buyer, especially if they already have a buyer. However, non-communication can turn some prospective buyers off......which has happened in your situation. In the end, you didn't get what you wanted but you also didn't lose anything. It's not worth a suspension from TGP to call the person out. Why go through even more hassle?

11-30-2009, 06:21 PM
I am a born procrastinator but with deals on here and on Ebay I bust ass to get my stuff shipped the same day and am borderline OCD on follow up until I have tracking info to my buyer.

OH yeah- please PM me this person's info as well. Sure hope it's not me. :nono

Wait a minute...

I thought you paid for the item and then didn't receive it? If it's just that you PM'd that you'd take it, and no money ever changed hands, that's something else.

But you said in your first post that you paid for the item. If you did pay, and you paid by PP you can file a dispute through PP and/or your credit card company.

A forumite ripped me off. What should I do?
First, please re-read the Emporium Rules.

What you should do
If you have proof of deceit that would hold up in small claims court, notify the administrators and they can take action on the forum. We can’t and won’t get involved in issues without solid proof.
Share your experience with other forumites via private channels such as PM or email.
What you should NOT do
Publicly air your grievance. Accusing another forumite of ripping you off without solid proof is not tolerated. If you have enough proof to keep your claim from getting you suspended for personal attacks, it's enough to get the seller banned. If you don't have evidence that satisfies the administrator's burden of proof, you will likely end up sanctioned before the person who you claim ripped you off.

ImmortalSix

I have had this happen before, but eventually the seller came back and shipped the item, I just had to wait an uncomfortably long amount of time.

Good luck!
