Anyone know of a good fuzzface with a good tone control? Trying to cut the highs running them through a clear deluxe reverb. Already tried a mi audio gi fuzz...didn't gel with it. Found the fulltone 70 and the mxr classic fuzz just a touch too bright. Don't want to cut the bright cap...I like my clean sound!

It's not going to sound a 100% like a fuzz face anymore...

It's very simple to ad a capacitor to a FF to tame down some of the treble.
With a clean fender amp (which is bright anyway) the high end can get
a little much, I agree.

There are some FF clones that allow you to change the bias of the trannys. This will yield different tones although it's not a tone control. Some that have this are AM Sun Face and Deep Trip pedals.

The Throbak ODB will give you a germanium fuzz sound with lots of EQ control. Can't speak to whether it sounds like a FF and haven't tried it with a DR.

Way Huge Foot Pig is probably one of the best FF clones ever, with a very effective tone control. Expensive, though.

Check out the Mojo Hand Huckleberry clips on You Tube.Exactly what I was thinking also. I have the Tonefactor version and it can cop some good ff tones w/ the added benefit of a tone knob. Great pedal.

Since the Fuzz faces type fuzz is so interactive with the guitar; wouldn't the tone knob on your guitar serve the purpose of rolling off the top end?

AWESOME pedal, but I wouldn't say it's very similar-sounding to a Fuzz Face.

Thanks John! Which of the basic audio pedals would suit my needs? A darker fuzz face?

I have a deluxe reverb style amp that I run semi clean, I stack a timmy after the fuzz face (silicone) to tighten it up a tad and shape up some of the EQ. works great!

I think that's the Solar Myth but maybe John will chime in...

+ 1 on the Hellbilly - hybrid FF design i think (but will stand corrected) - cool control of tone - from big muff like woofiness to biting treble.

The Solar Myth I make is fuzz face based.
I can make a dark version for you, no problem.
It's got a fatness control that dials in the low end
from wooly and slow to thinner and fast (dynamic response).

Check add the Addrock "Geranium" Fuzz. It has a very useful high cut switch.
I like to reduce the big caps to reduce lows/mud and to add a 2200pf bright cap for more cut

The fuzz face has 12 components. Its actually pretty easy to dial in the bass and treble by swapping caps. If I were you I'd build a DIY fuzz and tweak it for your needs.
