Realfi just got a custom version called the Burgs RF-he is a great player, true good guy and posts frequently in the Alt.Country club. Brian Cale also posted a pic and info on the functions of the Burgs RF in the Farndurk Model 9 thread last week.

The Farndurk pedals are beautiful. How do they sound?

I don't know if this is cool or not (if not I'll just pull it :)) ... but here's some feedback I rec'd from a TGP'r on a Burgs2 and an X2. His name is Chris Pearce, a fella from the UK.....

"Brian,Missi
Had a chance to give the pedals a good workout tonight. Played my Ernie Ball Silouhette 3xsingle coils into Marshall JCM 900 50W 2x12" equipped with EL34's.

Burgs2....once its ON you just don't want to turn it off...really opens up your sound but still remains transparent, you can really dig in and roll back your volume and it still keeps its "attack" and that "snap"....when I turned it OFF..it just had to go back ON and stay ON...all night..

Flipped the toggle to Near Zero Compression and then used as a Boost for the Dirt Channel on the JCM900 which sounded great...Dirt chanel is quite dark on my JCM900 and it adds some nice sparkle, plenty of added volume on tap with this pedal....nice...

X2...sweet low-mid overdrive..which responds so well to rolling back the volume on the guitar...on my single coils got a great ZZ Top circa Tres Hombres tone...that edgy break up....but not too distorted...but still sooo transparent...does not colour tone at all....like a lot of "boutique" do.

Maxed the Gain and turned volume down on pedal slightly and it still sings on a single coil...instant Angus Young :-) Chords sound great and notes don't bleed into each other..great individual note clarity.

Noticed that Toggle switch is a 3 way toggle..clearer and less distorted in top position...more of clean boost.. middle position seems to open up the midrange (to my ears....thoughstill ringing from tonights practice).

And toggle down..gives that nice grind BUT not over the top "Metal Grind", if that makes sense. Think I got the toggle settings the right way round, please correct me if I am wrong.. :--)

And both together Burgs2 + X2 really shine...great boost to X2 when Burgs switched to NZ (ed note: "NZ" = Near Zero ... or "boost" mode if you will) Comp mode..and Comp mode too. ideal for switching from rhythm to lead....and both together still transparent.

They definitely will have a home on my board now..once I get them set up on my PedalTrain mini.. I'll send pics.

Once again, thanks for 2 amazing pedals, they really are "that" good..and I can see the love thats gone into them. I have several boutique pedals which are great pedals in there own right but no way built as well as yours and not as transparent.

No problem at all about the wait, as I know its been tough for both of you..but you've always kept in touch and let me know whats happening and that equates to great customer service + superb products.

Anyway I've gone on long enough..hope feed back is ok...please feel free to use it if desired. .I'm sure I'll be back for more "goodies" in the future.

Chris

P.S Only negative... pedals show up my sloppy technique ;-)..."

Again, sorry if this violates some sortof protocols here, if so, I'll just yank it. But please, try to avoid turning me in if I've offended anyone. I really will cooperate fine if given the chance. :) If I've offended, just pm me and I'll yank it.

Sorry I'm so sketchy about this ... I am not what you might call "forum literate" and I tend to insert foot quite a lot. Which is why I rarely post. :)

Thanks folks. Email me for q&a about our gear (no pms for gear info please). Thanks again! :)

Brian Cale.

I'm thinking the Burgs could be good for kicking an overdrive to get a sustaining singing tone kind of like Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" with a Strat.

I am also wondering if you can get the chimy, ringing guitar heard in so much power pop and alt rock (Big Star, Byrds, etc.)

You can if you go with the Joe which combines the Burgs with the jfet Boost from the Model 9. Go to the Farndurk webpage and look at the revised Joe info-the clip that is referenced by Brett aka Burgs of the Model 9 where he uses the Burgs and the Boost together really gets a nice chimey and sparkly tone almost reminiscent of some Tom Petty, Wilbury's or Mudcrutch tones.
