I see a lot of Fuchs modded Music Man amps . . . . And, is there a specific types of amps that Fuchs mods? One more: HRM and non-HRM -what's the tonal and technical difference?:dunno

Hmm, I didn't know he even modded MM amps. The only ones I've seen, heard about, played through were old bassmans. As far as what Andy has one his website, about the only thing that is original after the mod is the chassis, and trannies. Dang, boss is coming gotta go

he's done mm's. he had stopped mods for awhile, but started back up i think. the hrm can be tricky to dial in for some. email him & he'll explain it to you. i have the ods 100 non hrm--andy tuned it standard--no complaints with it's tone. i use a fuchs 2x12 with the fats-1 speakers. go to the page suggested in the above post--those sound clips are good :munch

Fuchs takes old amps with quality chassis, trannies, and tube sockets like MM, old Fender, and old Traynors, strips them down to just those components, and rewires them as one of his ODS creations.

Got it. I have a Fuchs ODS-50 (non-HRM) and wondering whether there's a vast difference in tone w/ HRM amps; contemplating buying a used Fuchs modded amps in the future.

Music Man 65/130 amps and SF Fenders are perfect platforms for dumble mods. They have great iron and lots of holes for pots already. He guts them and plops one of his boards in. He's bound to find this thread soon...I'm sure he'll clarify.

i read in a post that andy said most hrm's sound best with the gain boost on. the non hrm has a broader range of tones. he said you do get a greater range of control with the hrm, but it can be tricky beast to dial in the tones :munch

I've owned both HRM and non-HRM and prefer the HRM because you get FAR greater control over distortion tones, as well as independent control of EQ in clean and OD channels. They can be equally smooth or aggressive, but the HRM has greater range and control in all directions.

HRM = "Hot Rubber Monkey" and is simply a post-OD tonestack. The intended operation is to use PAB in OD channel to bypass the pre-OD stack (front panel EQ) and just rely on the post-OD stack (internal trim pots available through top hatch on Fuchs).

Non-HRM uses a pre-OD stack and the EQ you set for the clean channel is what you get for the OD channel, except in PAB, where the stack is bypassed.

I might have to pick up a used HRM modded amp though I'm happy with my non-HRM ODS-50.

Certainly a different palette of tones to be found. ;)

I've thought about picking up a SF Bassman 50 watt or Music Man and have it modded.
Nice to know that someone as highly regarded as Andy is only an hour or so away and can do the work at a reasonable price.
